The stream is over - thanks everyone for joining us!

Join us Thursday at 2pm Central time for our weekly live stream on Twitch, where we'll be putting together a system based on this month's Entry Level Gaming build guide.

NCIX has kindly put together a bundle including most of the parts used in this build. The bundle should be available through the June 25 on both NCIX Canada and NCIX US.

Our thanks to Gigabyte for providing both the motherboard and GPU based on our selections for this build!

BoyScout, are you actually a boyscout? I have wondered for such a long time but I have never asked haha

BoyScout staff submitter 6 Builds 6 points 9 months ago

Well, I do like to be prepared.

Skylord 3 points 9 months ago

I am wanting to take that as a no?

I myself am an Eagle Scout working on getting a few palms right now :)

BoyScout staff submitter 6 Builds 4 points 9 months ago

That's awesome, congrats on making Eagle (and keeping after even more badges!) To answer with less subtlety: yes, I was a Boy Scout and made it to Eagle as well.

Skylord 2 points 9 months ago

Thank you!

Congrats on your Eagle as well!

No offence, like, really don't take this as any offence, (lol) but I always thought the Boy Scouts as something stupid. When I participated, (I never got to eagle, but got far enough :P) it never seemed that we would do the kind of adventure-stuff that was always implied when you say "I'm going to the boyscouts' trip". Also, there's always the "Pledge of Allegiance" and stuff along those lines and learning about the great presidents of America, but I don't agree with all of that they teach you, (including the religion I was taught in my "Pack". So, yeah, don't know why I felt the need to say that, but uhh...

On a lighter note, (heh heh) I was wondering if you guys could look at my part list (Marc's Build New), I think I'm going to put a computer together this summer, and I've fiddled with components in old Dell's and such but never was whiz. Could you guys give me some feedback?

He don't need no stinkin' badges.

Sweet, can't wait!

190n 2 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

Again with the livestreams during school.

Also Twitch is blocked :|

calebm041 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

download browsec off the chrome store its a proxy that unblocks everything.

190n 2 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

We're on Chromebooks and they're locked down such that we can't install any extensions (except uBlock Origin because me).

And it's still during school.

BoyScout staff submitter 6 Builds 3 points 9 months ago

I know it's not the same, but it will be also available via VOD on Twitch after the stream and we typically upload it to YouTube a day or so after the stream.

Also, school is important, so please pay attention! :)

190n 2 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

LOL thanks

edit: Almost done with school too. Make sure to do a ton of livestreams over the summer :)

BoyScout staff submitter 6 Builds 2 points 9 months ago

Fear not, we're working on it. There should be lots of good live streams this summer.

philip staff 10 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

Unfortunately this is our set time for now.

190n 2 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

OK.

One more reason to look forward to the summer :)

rhali8 2 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

Its starting in like 3 mins!

rhali8 2 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

Yay, I got to catch the stream. It was awesome! Great work guys! :)

Thank you guys for the live twitch, my first time to make an account and try it out. Very fun and thank you for allowing us to watch it! I need to do this more often. Again, awesome build. Thanks for answering our questions and even asking us on what we thought. :)

I got a quick question. I'm looking to upgrade my old pc to a intel i5 6500 but i'm having trouble figuring out what kind of video card to buy for my rig. Im looking to do only 1080p gaming and it must be under 250$ for the video car...... any advice?

ThoughtA staff 1 point 8 months ago

For feedback on part lists, please use our part list opinions wanted forum. (Blog posts aren't really the appropriate venue.)

anthonyxs 1 point 8 months ago

Thanks.

Sanctuvex 1 point 8 months ago

Dog, amd polaris is coming out in a month look that up. only 200.

sKypP3r 2 Builds 1 point 8 months ago

Hi guys.

Am currently running MSI GTX 750 Ti and am thinking about upgrade to http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/amdradeongraphicscards/amdr9380series/r9-380p-4df5.html

Their site says that there's minimum PSU of 750W. I've got only 600W Corsair PSU. I see that you use 550W with your R9 380X and are you okay?

Do you think that XFX R9 380X will be okay with my Corsair CX600M?

Thanks.

lullabybunny 1 point 7 months ago

my partlist was very similar to this. Same case, and motherboard, but went with 1x8 crucial 2133, got the 380 4gb for $140, and got the i5 6400 for $179. also went with a 240GB SSD over the TB HDD, and went with the seasonic G 550w semi-modular. later got a second 1x8 gb, and has a TB hdd laying around the house.

cost nearly the same. my build cost me slightly more because I picked up the case locally (+$10) and I picked up a second ram chip a week later.

Is This A Suitable Gaming PC For Battlefield and CSGO??

The build guide's parametrics were set up to only include a few semi-modular selections. The Seasonic in question would definitely be an ideal unit for this build, it just didn't end up in the parametrics.

Where is the B2 only $48.99 (or are you not in the US)?
