PCPartPicker Mobile

We're pleased to announce that the mobile version of PCPartPicker is now available! We've rolled out most of the site functionality in a UI that better suits a mobile-sized screen and a touch-based interface. While we auto-detect most mobile devices, you can also override the full / mobile version setting by clicking the "Switch to..." links on the bottom of each page.

Let us know what you think! If you have any questions or comments, drop us a comment in the forums!

How long until there is an app for PCPartPicker? I'm sure plenty would like to see that.

BigFooy 13 points 14 months ago

I would love to see an app!

gogo809 2 Builds 6 points 14 months ago

Why when all the functionality is on the site???

Stingingnettle 2 Builds 11 points 14 months ago

Convenience :P

gogo809 2 Builds 7 points 14 months ago

Makes sense. Just FYI, you can add a bookmark to your homescreen if you are rocking Android. There is a widget for that named "bookmarks". Obviously you already have to have PCPartPicker bookmarked for it to work though. I just did so :)! (I hadn't thought of it before, thanks!)

stnz 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

You can do this on both system FYI, iOS & Android, works wonders in both case :)

Seghasivk 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

Maybe an offline app with the parts database built in. I know I would personally love that.

binaryjigsaw 4 points 14 months ago

why is there a facebook app if there is a website? why is there a twitter app if there is a website?

well i think websites work on a large pc monitor, but i hate browsing on a smartphone. :*(

like stingingnettle said "convenience". :D

but that's just my opinion.

Anthony21 2 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

I agree with you, just the same with the crappy youtube app from google, other youtube apps are better but not the point .

But yes, it would be great if there is an app of this, i believe it can happen and possible more functionality that the mobile version probably can't handle,

But like everything else, theres a balance between whats great about the other while the other one can't handle.

Phot3k 3 points 13 months ago

Have been wanting an app on iOS for some time, I would never use this site on a mobile, just too slow and inconvenient.

skemble 23 Builds 14 points 14 months ago

Will there be a way to view completed builds?

BoyScout staff 3 Builds 18 points 14 months ago

Yep. Still in work, but coming.

skemble 23 Builds 10 points 14 months ago

You guys work wonders!

Taylours_Computers_Inc 7 points 14 months ago

Yaaaayyyy!!!!!!!! This will be so much easier for people like me, and others who have their business on the go! Thank you so much!!

Isaiah_Graetz 6 points 14 months ago

Been waiting ages for the mobile site. The end result is fantastic and far more than I expected! Great job to everyone involved with this project!

rishabhchugh13 1 Build 5 points 14 months ago

Thanks Philip! Another great feature of PCPartPicker. Can you please look into adding a review section for components. That would be great :)

gogo809 2 Builds 4 points 14 months ago

I was just thinking about this, in fact....Forum feature request link Pile on :)

rishabhchugh13 1 Build 2 points 14 months ago

I commented on that forum too a while ago. I was going to make one asking for review sections but then I saw this and added to the forum. Let's hope we get a review section :)

GhostFace0621 2 points 14 months ago

This is very great. Just need to have a mobile app now :D

Alagamasha 2 points 14 months ago

Nice work! Now we want the app xD

Krazeee 1 Build 2 points 14 months ago

Woohoo!!! I've been wanting a mobile version ever since I discovered this site!

Akut 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

Trying out he mobile site now, works really good! Now I don't need to lug around my laptop everywhere, or wait for some of the larger part pages to load (still takes some time, 4G is only so fast).

Good job, PCPartPicker!

*happy dance

killamar5 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

This was awesome, I went on my iPod and magically it looked and felt a lot better, nice job PCPartPicker!

Jonathanwashere 2 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

Can we see the blog in the future?

rapidprogram 1 point 14 months ago

I was waiting for this :) now we just need this as an app ;)

White_Recluse 1 point 14 months ago

THANK YOU SO MUCH FINALLY

tylersimms83 1 point 14 months ago

now its time to work on custom water cooling

plgdg 2 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

Agreed. I've brought this up to them before. They seemed interested in pursuing this. I asked to start with a Water Cooling forum, but have not heard any word about it since :(

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 4 points 14 months ago

We're working on it, but it's a TON of parts to add in. It also requires a much more detailed breakdown of data for cases that takes considerable time to pull and update (such as what parts of the case support radiators, how many, what depth, etc.)

plgdg 2 Builds 5 points 14 months ago

I totally understand. No rush on that. I was only wondering if a forum section could suffice in the meantime :P

candy 2 Builds 0 points 14 months ago

They have a forum section... https://pcpartpicker.com/forums/

plgdg 2 Builds 2 points 14 months ago

A forum section for water cooling is what I was referring to... I had previously spoken with manirelli about it.

coolguy562 1 Build 2 points 14 months ago

That would be helpful and I do like the idea of a water cooling section. Also just as my input I think that the majority of people willing to put time in to make a custom water cooling loop also have the time to crunch some numbers themselves.

tylersimms83 1 point 14 months ago

yes, but its a convenience thing to have all of your parts is one central location that you can view from anywhere instead of having a large notepad document

mattk9609 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

Would it be easier to at least add in the parts and categories first with a note stating that custom water cooling loop compatibility is not checked at this time?

plgdg 2 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

Woo!

ThatSweetGamer 2 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

ABOUT TIME!

Bazz 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

Site looks great. Would love to be able to see my list of favorite parts.

BoyScout staff 3 Builds 3 points 14 months ago

Fear not. Favorites will eventually make their way to mobile as well.

FreeFireXI 3 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

Thanks to everyone that worked on this! The default sort is pretty nice, but there is still some issues with finding a range of items to compare prices and such. This is just after 30 - 40 minutes of playing with it, so I could be wrong. Otherwise, great mobile app. Runs smooth.

guitargod1174 2 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

i love this! thanks for making it possible

James27t 1 point 14 months ago

I was just hoping this existed a week ago. You guys work fast :D

candy 2 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

Hooray! Thank you! Sorting lists was so slow on mobile previously, but now it's fixed. Good job again!

gregkolodny 1 point 14 months ago

Congrats, we (probably more than half of the people above the age of 16 who use this site) have been waiting for this. Kind of feels like wizardry. I wonder what else are you guys cooking up.

Bulldog6565 1 point 14 months ago

The text is a little buggy when adding custom stuff (for me at least) the cursor bar is all the way out of the box where you enter in the text and it's a little buggy when trying to select keywords or highlight phrases.

BoyScout staff 3 Builds 2 points 14 months ago

Very strange. What device and browser are you using?

Bulldog6565 1 point 14 months ago

ios and safari iphone 4s it's weird because it would be the name of the custom item only but the custom link and price would be operating perfectly

Nepgear 1 point 14 months ago

Awesome.

JoshPapson 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

You guys should make an app!

ryry81200 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

Now all you guys need is an app, and you're golden!

imthatfluffy 1 point 14 months ago

i have been waiting for ever for this!!!!!

MrWhiteMacaroon 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

Now I a reason to get robbed on the public bus :D. I can show my friends builds instead of saying, "I'll email it later to you." Awesome, Love it. Keep Going and take over the PC community and rule the world in small increments, hehe.

nlmaster 1 point 14 months ago

The fact that most of my time on this site is from my nexus 7 that's awesome!

Spaceman659 1 point 14 months ago

This is Awesome Thank you!! How about a app?

Scoutdrago3 1 point 14 months ago

Finaly! At last! My phone is now complete :)

eyanez27 1 point 14 months ago

Yes

Butterywarrior 1 point 14 months ago

This doesn't seem to be working on tablets. I have an LG G Pad. I try to manually switch to Mobil and it doesn't work. Thanks for the help guys!

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 2 points 14 months ago

I think that should be fixed now - I just rolled out some changes about 45 minutes ago that should have addressed that.

Butterywarrior 1 point 14 months ago

Awesome! It works now! Though it didn't automatically pull up on the mobile version. Keep up the great work!

RyneSmith 7 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

Awesome. Awesome and Awesome!

Tha_Sheep 1 point 14 months ago

Sweet! Mobile site is really smooth and the functionality is a million times better! Thanks guys!!

CookieCrumbs 1 point 14 months ago

Thanks for that! You have really helped a lot of people do the right choices! Awesome!!!

dsegura90 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

Make an Android App :)

ThatsPoorlyDrawn 3 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

This is awesome!!! Love it.

4ndrew2 1 point 14 months ago

Thank you! I've been waiting forever :D

iCalvus 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

Well done! I love it. When using the full site on my mobile devices it takes a long time to load the Memory, Storage and Case pages. Now everything loads in a snap even using 3G. Thanks for the great work.

kammem 1 point 14 months ago

good. but not comfortable when your looking for lists:( i know it depends on screen size

arioncielrion 1 point 14 months ago

Love it, Philip. It works like a charm in my Nokia 5530 XpressMusic but only in Portrait mode. Great feature, this will be handy if someone want to discuss-and-decide the custom of their choice with someone they know but forgot to bring a laptop. Keep it up!

Nackatacka 3 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

Great. Now I am gonna be on my phone even more in class. lol

iscopexvx 1 point 14 months ago

anyway you guys on here can check my post on parts and see if i have a decent gaming pc build, its right around 1300.

please let me know what you think.

andrewmacneil 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

does this come on blackberry??

Baconer 1 point 14 months ago

Is this on android too, or just iOS? Because I can't get the mobile site on my tablet.

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

There's a link on the bottom of the page to switch to mobile.

Baconer 1 point 14 months ago

Oh I see it now thanks

simlol12 1 point 14 months ago

no android app :( ?

icetorch 1 point 14 months ago

Good job guys. You've done so much work. Been using this website since it the beginning.

onehourleft 1 point 14 months ago

Great work on the mobile site! Thanks for making this a priority.

TeodrosKing 1 point 14 months ago

This is what I have been waiting for for so long!!!

Daniel0913 1 point 14 months ago

yay!

neo_mouse 1 point 14 months ago

I really like what you guys did with the new mobile site. The only thing i wish you would do is add a simple list view when looking at components with the option to have more detailed list.

berzerker2 3 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

Now THAT is super awesome news!!!

ZanDricaPC 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

Will this work on the Windows Phone platform? Currently updating my Lumia, wanted to make sure before the update was complete!

BoyScout staff 3 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

It should. My personal phone is a Lumia, so I try to keep it happy.

sjakedude 1 point 14 months ago

Make it an app PLEASE!!! :)

Toseland 1 point 14 months ago

Sorry but personally, I dislike it to the old one. It's hard and takes forever to go down all the parts and is just generally inconvenient for me.

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

Ok. There's a link on the bottom of the page to let you switch back to full mode.

Battletits 1 point 14 months ago

This is great but i would love a (free) app even more

xTeitoklein 1 point 14 months ago

Can you fix the System Builder for dual CPU. Because when i choose the EVGA SR-2 no CPU Comes up, single CPU Cooler instead of two CPU Cooler, and please can you add a secondary power supply option(with the video cards and overclocking pc systems right now we need a 2nd power supply for stable power output.). This will be a great help for those who like to build a overclocking pc's or video editing pc's and all those kinds of stuff. BIG THANKS. _^

HCkev 3 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

A very welcome improvement. I found the regular site was slow and painful to use on a phone, now it will be a much better experience!

[comment deleted by staff]
TechSpecs 1 point 13 months ago

Philip, seeing as Newegg now ships to Australia and the UK, could you please add them to the range of retailers for those regions? thanks.

woodman_vic 1 point 13 months ago

its so nice

OfficialNapalm -1 points 14 months ago

Are you adding this to Android and the Kindle OS?

mattk9609 1 Build 3 points 14 months ago

It's a mobile website, not an app. It works fine already on Android

Seghasivk 1 Build -3 points 14 months ago

The filters are way harder to find, and the detailed list isn't there. I'm glad you guys tried, though!

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 2 points 14 months ago

Compromises must be made to fit a smaller screen. The full mode is still available if you prefer that experience.

Seghasivk 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

Ah, I see. I use the full mode usually, but the full mode tends to be a hog on my phone and lag, while the mobile version tends to run easier.

I think what you guys should do is make it have the option of a mobile detailed list interface, putting the filters in a side-swipe page. That way, we can swipe back and forth between the list (for choosing parts) and the filters (for finding the parts we need) without the hassle of zooming. Just my two cents.

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

We tried many variations - there just isn't enough screen width to pull off a detailed list when the device is in portrait mode. Even in landscape mode, there isn't enough width for it to be useful - you can fit the name, price, and maybe one data field, but no other relevant details.

Seghasivk 1 Build 3 points 14 months ago

Maybe 3 swipe-able screens:

  • The CPUs and prices
  • The specs (with the name in low-profile text)
  • The filters
Battletits 1 point 14 months ago

just like that

paulo098765 -8 points 14 months ago

Umm, #lifeiscomplete, why the long wait dev. team?

candy 2 Builds 5 points 14 months ago

Creating a mobile website is no easy task, and it certainly doesn't happen instantly. You should be glad that there even is a mobile website. The dev. team did a good job.

paulo098765 1 point 14 months ago

Sorry if it sounded mean lol no hard feeling and love the dev. Team, if u check im in pcpartpicker almost everyday and i love u guys, sorry for the misunderstanding
