Best bang for the buck, love it
One of the Best Budget cards ever made. It's tricky to give game FPS because i have a low end CPU which impacts the performance but with my setup it can run AAA games Medium-High settings 40-60FPS depending if the game is well optimized. I would like it to have a bit more power considering its price point however sacrifices need to be made to get that sweet sweet 3GB DDR5. It runs extremely quiet at lowest fan speeds (25%) and can also be turned completely off when idle with MSI Afterburner. The only complaint i have is the AMD Raptr software not recognizing that this card is a 280 and cant run all games Max settings, and it also recommends, no matter what setting you choose, it still recommends you play at 720p? WTF AMD i thought this was 2015 not 2007. Anyway you can still choose to completely ignore the optimizer and play most games realty well.
I wish I could add more stars to this review. This is the most bang-for-your-buck card you can get. Paired with the FX 6300 it is able to get a stable 60fps at 1440x900 in most games.
Definitely worth the price.
Could not ask for a better performance/dollar ratio
This was a great card for the price back when I purchased it for my gaming build. I got this GPU for $150 with a MIRB, quite a deal for the performance this card gives. This GPU also comes with Sapphire's Dual-X cooler, which is a real nice way of cooling this card. Temperatures during playing games like Star Wars Battlefront were never above 62C, and this card was also not that noisy while playing games, and that is with my PC sitting right next to me.
In a GPU market that marches relentlessly onward to newer and faster cards it's pretty impressive that I would strongly consider purchasing this card again even a year and a half later. The R9 280 is a real sweetheart of a card and is standing the test of time very well despite having been outmoded by two successive models since. Sapphire's cooler is quiet and effective - I almost never notice the fan noise.
