Maybe posting your parts list will help determine?
Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure the ML series cool better than the Aer RGBs. Just from looking at both fans' stats, the ML series starts of with a lower dBa (16-37), whereas the Aer RGBs have 22-31 dBa
Me gusta that te gusta ;)
Thank you! :)
What monitor arm is that?
Great! Thanks again, Mark :)
Hey, man. Thanks a whole lot. You've been very helpful and informational :)
I appreciate the time you took to help me out with planning his build.
Taking into account with all you said:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
What do you think? Might bump up to 32GB to be a little more futureproof.
Hmm, so in the end, a Kabylake build would benefit him.
Would an RX 480 be enough for video editing? It's him working on mainly video files from a camera.
He says either FL Stuios, Studio Live, or Studio One.
But if Adobe Premiere would benefit more from a 5820K, then would I even need to consider Kabylake because of the music production software? The primary focus is video editing/rendering anyway.
Great. Thanks a lot :)
Tooth, you're the real MVP
I don't even like coffee, so I go to Starbucks for the Strawberry Acai refresher. Love it
I'm planning a Black and Gold themed PC, so pretty unique, I'd say ;)
He said Logic Pro when I had asked him. He might still use his old Macbook for music, then.
How better does a 5820K fare over a 7700K for video editing/rendering needs?
His video editing will be going up to 4k, yes.
I don't think he has any plans of overclocking. Is that something recommended for audio/video production?
For music, he was planning on still using Logic Pro (he's coming from a Macbook)
I appreciate it :)
Sweet. Thanks a lot!
Thanks! I'm sure we could add an m.2 ssd to the Kabylake build and he wouldn't mind.
I like that Xeon build as well. How future-proof would the RX 470 be for his rendering needs?
Woot. Thanks :)
Czex back at it with the 1upping.
I gave you your comment point back lol
Why am I not getting notified by my own forum posts D:
This exact thing happened to me. For me, I checked everything and found that a couple of pins in my LGA1151 socket were bent. RMA'ing my board. It's likely that was the case.
You're the real MVP. Thanks :)
200% clicked for your wallpapers bro. Links?
Yup! If you're planning on going FPS or any type of competitive, then you can take advantage of the 60+ hz, but if you just want something visually stunning, then stick with the 60hz IPS beautiful ******* monitors lolol
Yup, it's a tight fit. I have one HDD and one SSD, and I plan on switching to everything being an SSD. Makes cable management much easier, but it's not impossible with an HDD.
There ya go lol.
Look at it this way:
1060/RX 480 = 1080p 60fps
1070 = 1080p 144hz OR 1440p 60fps
1080 = 1440p 144hz OR 4K (does 4k even reach 60hz lol)
I have the same case. It takes a little bit of work, but it's not impossible. If you place the HDD on the bottom partition, the sata and sata power cables can squeeze through. A lot easier if you're using a modular power supply as well, btw.
Logitech G810 Orion Spectrum keyboard for $70
Jipster helped me brain storm it. We came down to Nuit d'or, then we decided to be nerds and switch or to Au hahaha
Thanks! That was the idea :)
Thanks! I'm thinking about spray painting or painting the silver line on the radiator and cooling block, but I don't know if that will oversaturate the gold. Kinda what I'm trying to stay away from.
I don't blame you at all.
The build I'm planning is built around the black/gold motherboard I bought.
I also saw you were looking for a CPU cooler. The Corsair H100iv2 is always a good choice, but another choice is the https://pcpartpicker.com/product/kHdqqs/cooler-master-cpu-cooler-rrv8vc16prr1
It might compliment your white/red :)
I usually don't like red in builds, since it's so overused (sorry, not sorry, Jippy), but I love how the red cables contrast the white MOBO and GPU. Looks great :)
What chair is that? Looks plenty comfortable
Man, Czex. They weren't lying when they said you always have to 1up. God dang
That looks damn good. Perfect for any black/xx color theme. February is going to feel like forever now.
Gotcha. Well, yeah you're not getting the most out of your GTX 1080 with a 1080p monitor.
My rule of thumb:
1080p 60hz = GTX 1060/simlar
1080p 144hz and 1440p 60hz = GTX 1070
1440p 144hz and 4k = GTX 1080
No use in having a beast PC if you can't cool it properly ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I would also suggest getting a better CPU cooler.
Also, going SLI with your GPUs isn't always necessarily the best option. Scaling problems can come up. If you're going for the 1080, then a 1440p 144hz (g-sync if you're feeling extra happy) would be a better choice. That monitor wouldn't give you the true potential of that and going SLI would be beyond overkill for it. I'd save the extra money from the second GPU to get a better monitor. However, if you downgrade to a GTX 1070, 1080p 144hz should not be an issue at all :)
What else besides gaming (I'm assuming that would be the primary option) is this build for?
Only Microsoft Store experience I've had left me pretty livid.
On 11/22/16 I placed an order for the Mionix Castor (about $65-$75 pretty much everywhere else. Microsoft had it for $45 ($49 with tax/shipping)). I received my email that my order was placed and checked my bank to see the purchase amount removed from my account balance with a pending transaction. No problem there - business as usual.
I received the item on 11/25/16 surprisingly, since I never received my notice about shipping with tracking. Figured there was a backlog due to the Black Friday Week rush, so i didn't pay attention to it.
On 12/14/16, I finally receive my email from Microsoft stating that my order had shipped and the tracking info showed delivered. Again, no problem there. Suddenly, I receive an alert from my bank that I was below $10. Lo and behold, it was my Mionix Castor transaction. I found it weird since I saw the transaction when the money came out of my account. I called my bank and they checked the records. Apparently, Microsoft wasn't able to fully complete the transaction. DIdn't expect my bank to notify me. I was pretty disappointed in the fact I received no notification from Microsoft during the roughly 3 weeks they were attempting to get my money for my purchase to be ready for the inevitable surprise transaction. I was also pretty disappointed that they had shipped an item out without fully charging me first. Have never had that happen to me and, I must say, I was not a happy camper that Wednesday.
