My Music Production & Gaming Coffee Lake Build
This is my second official build, but I'll consider it my first REAL attempt as I really took a lot of time researching hardware and making sure this would be aesthetically pleasing. My main goal was to create music production and high end gaming machine. Pricing for some of these items came out to be a little less than what's listed
Meshify C : I really loved the look of this case. I wanted something that kept all my parts cool and looked sleek, and this really delivers in both areas. Building in this thing was an absolute dream compared to the Mini Atx case I came from. Tons of room for cable management, storage, and no issues at all mounting any of the fans. Airflow is FANTASTIC in this thing, with all parts registering below average temperatures reported online.
MSI GeoForce GTX 1080 8GB I actually got this NEW at a local auction for $400. I couldn't justify not buying it for that price! Fantastic card, but when I built my case it was running at 83 C, which seemed extremely hot given the effort I put into cooling. After doing some research, I bought some Thermal Grizzly thermal compound and cleaned / changed out the paste on the GPU. After doing so, my temps were down by as much as 17 DEGREES!
Coffee Lake 8700K Big upgrade from my 4670k. This thing is an absolute monster and preforms very, very well. We already know it's one of the best for gaming, but as far as the music production side goes, this thing has helped me out TREMENDOUSLY.
NZXT FANS & CPU COOLER I heard the 8700k ran a bit hot, and this cooler preforms amazingly (27c idle & 39-45c under load). I love the way these fans look, and I actually bought the 2 pack with the NZXT rgb controller.
960 EVO M.2 Noticing a fantastic boost to startup and load times. The build in heatsink on the motherboard is an added bonus. This thing helps my workflow and speeds up games to lightning speeds.
Dell 2716dg This is the new revision of this monitor (A07) with almost no color banding. Playing on a 144HZ G Sync monitor coming from my little 1080p 60hz monitor is indescribable. Amazing colors, tear-free, smooth as butter frames.
Focusrite 2i4 external sound & JBL monitors Used primarily for instruments. I have my headphones and monitors also hooked up to this. Sounds are extremely vivid, use less resources, and make switching from headphones to speakers (or both at the same time) a breeze. MUCH better than any internal sound card.
Overall I'm extremely happy with the way this turned out, and building it was a blast.
