Description

This build is an upgrade of my previous featured build: The Malicious

Cables: replaced Uni-Color extension cables with Tri-Color (Red/White/Black) individually sleeved cables

Purely to improve the aesthetic

Front Intake Fans: replaced 3X CoolerMaster Jetflow 120mm (Red LED) with 2X Noctua NF-A14 140mm

For quieter operation

AIO Liquid Cooler: replaced Corsair H80i GT with NZXT Kraken X61

For better temperature and consistency (with Grid+, Hue+, Noctis)

Display: replaced 2X AOC E2260SWDN 21.5" (TN panel) with 3X Dell S2316H 23" (AH-IPS panel) monitor

The viewing angles on my former AOC monitors were terrible. Purchased these Dell monitors because they have got the thinnest bezels among entry-level monitors, which are good for multi-monitors setup

Graphic Adapter: replaced Asus GTX 970 Turbo with Gigabyte GTX 980Ti G1 Gaming

Don't really need a 980ti at this point of time. Still went for it to maintain consistency (with my Gigabyte motherboard) and for future-proofing

Audio: Replaced Creative Inspire T10 with Creative Gigaworks T40 Series II

To pair up with the Creative SoundCore™ 3D Gaming Audio on my Z170X-Gaming 7 motherboard for better sound quality

Thanks for the compliment!

Delighted to know that my time spent on nitpicking upgrades in the past 4 months is well worth it.

Did you sell your 970???

It's still around. Cant bare to sell it off. It has served me well and IMO, the rig looks better with the Asus 970 OC Turbo than my current 980Ti

Love it, love it, love it. Awesome color combo, sexy cable management, stellar components, beautiful monitor setup.

Did I mention I love it? Because I love it.

Thank you! I am very satisfied with the end results of the upgrade too!

Would have bought the predator x34 monitor, if I had more budget. Nevertheless, I guess the current setup is good enough to last me awhile.

Very nice looking upgrades! That makes me want to upgrade my Noctis 450 build. :-)

  • 2 points

Thanks!

I saw your ITX build and I am very much inspired. I will also be building an ITX machine soon with my spare 3770K and 280X.

  • 1 point

That would be cool! :-)

I almost kept the ITX build for myself, but my Dad needed a new system. :-P

I might build one for myself sometime, but my Noctis 450 is a really nice system.

  • 1 point

Yeah, your noctis has got very well chosen parts and excellent color coordination.

Can't think of any upgrades for your already outstanding build. I will be very interested to know your upgrade path.

  • 1 point

Thanks.

I'd like to try a custom loop, even though the Noctis isn't really designed for it. I'm not completely comfortable with trying water cooling yet, plus the fact that I just built that system a couple of months ago, so it's going to take some time deciding on how I want it to look.

How are the fans on the x61? Are they noisy under load/stress?

I'm looking at going to the x61 from a corsair h100i

  • 1 point

I am less sensitive to noise.

However, coming from a Corsair H80i GT, I find the NZXT fans quieter.

Oh my dog its amazeballs!!!!! But also where did you get dem monitor stands from cos even they looking fkn sweet!!!

Thank you. I am from Singapore. Those stands were bought off a local website. They cost only like $7 USD each.

  • 1 point

Ah ok probs won't have them in UK then...

  • 1 point

DAMN I'm actually going for a very similar build. The only differences would be the case, storage, and graphics. I'm gonna go with a corsair air 540 for the case and a 980 ti from msi rather than gigabyte. Everything else is just like yours even the custom sleeved cables.

  • 1 point

You may want to consider the Corsair Spec Alpha case if you a geting the Gigabyte Gaming 7 Mobo. I think they blend perfectly.

Love the Build! You have inspired me! Where can I get the tri-colored sleeved cables you used?

  • 1 point

Thank you.

I bought them from taobao.com , which is the chinese version of aliexpress.

  • 1 point

How long where they? 30cm?

  • 1 point

Sorry man, I couldn't recall the exact measurement. Based on estimation, the CPU 2x4 pin cable should be around 50 to 60cm. The rest around 35 to 45cm.

  • 1 point

I noticed on some of the shots you had the Samsung 950 mounted by the CPU, then other (later?) shots it had moved to the slot on the other side of the GPU. I am considering using the 950 Pro, but was reading of issues with heat when mounted in some locations. Did you have an issue when mounted near the CPU? or just aesthetics?

I ask cause the motherboard I am thinking about puts the M.2 under where the GPU will go and wonder about heat issues. Thanks,

  • 1 point

I did noticed that the temps of my CPU were a few degrees higher when I had the SSD inserted in the M.2 slot near the CPU.

Hence, I re-mounted it near the GPU.

I remember reading some articles (specific to my mobo) that it is better to use the M.2 slot near the GPU, if the user ain't running dual GPU.

I didn't really make a comparison on the temperature of my GPU with/without the 950 Pro inserted near there.

The URL above is for Seasonic PSU. The seller offers custom cables for other brands too. You will need to be able to communicate in Chinese in order to let the seller know your requirements and to place the order.

  • 1 point

What exact cables do u need for this build. Im gonna build this exact pc

  • 1 point

Custom sleeved cables:

1 x 24pin ATX

2 x 8pin PCI-E

1 x 8pin CPU

The rest of the SATA and Molex cables can be hidden if you do your cable management properly. Hence I suggest using the original modular cables that came with the PSU.

  • 1 point

Would you recommend using the 2 ssd's or upgrading the m.2 ssd to 512 GB instead Of the first black ssd

  • 1 point

I would suggest you get a 512GB m.2 PCI-E x4 SSD (samsung pro 950) since it is theoretically faster than the 256GB version.

However, aesthetically, it may not be that good looking if the SSD mounting on top of the PSU shroud is empty.

Bro what are your thoughts on the 1070 for this and would it fit ? Would it be better than the 980 to for gaming and rendering . And it's cheaper

  • 1 point

1070 will fit just fine. Gaming wise GTX1070's performance will be about the same as 980ti at 1080p, but it will scale better at higher resolution due to higher/faster vram.

Rendering wise I am not sure.

However, wait awhile more for custom cards which are going to have better performance and priced more competitively. Don't get the founders edition. I would of cos recommend the Gigabyte Xtreme Gaming series.

Hey, amazing build! But one question, whats the name of the cabel kit

  • 1 point

Really nice! What made you feel like you need three monitors?

  • 1 point

LOL. What a question.

To run 3 tasks concurrently: First one for gaming, second one for streaming shows, the third one for monitoring stats (CPU, GPU, RAM, etc) + steam friend list

  • 1 point

You stream?
