Description

So this computer is primarily used for gaming. Some rendering but not heavy. I mainly just use it to browse the web and do some gaming. So let's get into the detail of why I picked what I did.

CPU I went with the I5 4690 for this build. I never do overclocking so having the unlocked processor wasn't really needed. I just needed a CPU that was good for gaming and the I5 is the sweet spot.

CPU COOLER I had the H55 from an old build and it looked better than the stock cooler. Keeping temps down never hurt anyone though :D.

Motherboard I choose the ASRock Fatality H97 Killer since I don't need the Z97 for OC'ing or SLI. I never plan to SLI and this board just had all the other features I needed. M.Sata for using as a boot when I get that drive.

RAM I went with 16 GB of GSkill Sniper because well, I could and it wasn't expensive. I don't need it, but it looks good having all the dimm slots populated.

Storage The 120GB Evo SSD is the boot drive. The 100GB Vertex 2 SSD is for games that can use an SSD. The other 2 HDD's are mass storage for other games.

GPU I went with the 980 Ti to replace my 780. I didn't need too, but I wanted to get more into 1440p gaming and the 780 just can't hang with the big boys anymore. So I went with the 980 Ti so I wouldn't have to upgrade for quite awhile.

Case It was small, fit all I needed and wasn't expensive. Had a side window and is a case. I'm quite happy with this case. Not the best for cable management but for small builds it will work.

PSU Was a left over from an old build. I do intend to upgrade to an 80 Gold PSU when the funds get proper. For now this will work.

Monitors I have 3 but use 2 due to the desk limitations. Great 1080p monitors but I will be replacing them with 1440p monitors when the funds allow for it.

OS It's windows. Not much I can say about it.

Peripherals For the Keyboard, Mouse and Headset I went with all logitech. Mouse for the MMO's I play it works great. Even works good for BF4. Keyboard is good, back lighting LED keys and all. Headset does what I need it too. I can listen through it and speak. lol

So that sums up the build. I absolutely love it and minus the few minor upgrades it needs I'm very satisfied with it.

Should have been 1 240gb SSD and 1 2TB HDD or 3TB but they have been known to have problems

At the time the price is right. If I was buying it all now I'd have gone with a 500gb ssd and 4 3tb wd drives

nope, been using them for years. But I do know they have the highest failure rate of them all. I've just been lucky. :D
