Description

Got a deal on the case, mobo, cpu, psu, and 8gb of ram with both hard drives and a fresh install of windows 10 locally via a craigslist add for 350 dollars.

I have added another 8gbs of matching ram, the lepa aquachnger 240, and powercolor r9 380. and 4 corsair af120 fans which have brought my total price to about 630 dollars.

i know the liquid cooling wasn't necessary at this point in the builds stage but i wanted it already purchased for when i decided to upgrade the cpu to an overclockable one. Instead of just waiting and buying the cooler and cpu at the same time.

Had to remove the hdd cage in the front of the spec 02 case to front mount the radiator for my lepa 240 cooler aio as the radiator blocked the ram channels on the board if mounted on the top of the case. I'm having a buddy of mine who builds custom fishtanks make me an acrylic harddrive stand to mount the two drives on for the time being they are just chilling in the bottom of the case.

In the future i wish to upgrade the cpu to either a 4690k or 4790k, pros and cons of either besides price point for a desktop that will mainly be used for photoshop and 1080p gaming would be appreciated. I will also double down on the gpu when that becomes necessary. but it is not this day.

i still need to purchase a new monitor and am looking for a decently large ultrawide display that's reasonably priced. Any recommendations there would be much appreciated.

Pictures show its evolution. It all worked when I received it but the cable management was terrible

Pretty great deal! And also a nice build. If you're looking for ultrawide, lg has 29' 2560 by 1080 with freesync. Forgot the model number, just search in monitor section of PCPP if you're interested! +1

2 things: I wouldn't use those fans on your radiator, the static pressure is quite awful. And the fans should be facing the other way.

I can't comment on the static pressure of the fans, but I don't think the direction of airflow matters all that much. Looks like he has them pulling air from the inside of the case and out the front. There have been a few videos recently demonstrating that the direction the air is flowing doesn't matter all that much, with negligible temp differences in setups similar to what he is doing.

If all he has are exhaust fans, this causes negative static pressure. The dust buildup with be bad enough.

front is exhaust top and back is intake

I'm planning on doing the same in my SPEC-02, let me know about your hard drive solution.

Why that cpu cooler. Your cpu isn't overclock able.

Doesn't hurt to be prepared.

plan on upgrading to an overclockable processor soon and didn't want to buy everything all at once. No point in buying an overclockable processor and not overclocking it.

I'm genuinely curious why? Mine is one of the best things I've ever bought, personally.
