Description

In commemoration of my replaying of twilight princess, and just all the sexy dragon parts.
Recently I upgraded to the MSI GTX 970, which is a heck of a card, and I decided that it was just time to overhaul the whole rig.

As of today (1/31/2016) I'm still waiting on a couple aesthetic features, so I don't have a final product yet. -GPU backplate -MSI dragon vinyl -3 120mm red led fans -and my EVGA red sleeved cable set (so I just hooked up everything with EVGA provided cables to make sure everything was working properly, so ignore the sloppy cable management at this point, please.....)

2/1/2016 Everything else came in, it's done!

but I'll update with pictures as everything else comes in.

Part Reviews

CPU

Really happy with this processor so far, it's doing slightly better than my previous 3570k, slightly. But that's okay, because I really enjoyed that processor as well. I can still OC this to 4.2 at stock voltage, and I currently have it up to 4.4 with the bump up to 1.3 V.

4 stars, just because it wasn't THAT much better than it's 4 year old counterpart

CPU Cooler

I was really hesitant with this buy, I previously had the 212 evo and the reviews are all over the place whether the H50 was worse or the same than either that or the Cryorig H7. I think it's better, my temps are fantastic, sporting ~21-23 C at idle and less than 60 C under load with my 4.4 Ghz overclock. I did add the extra fan in order to push air through and then out the back of the case, but that's no big deal. I still may upgrade to the H100i later, but for right now, I'm very happy with this cooler. Plus, it just looks so much cleaner than it's air cooling counterparts.

Five stars for performance to cost ratio

Motherboard

This thing is great, haven't really got to dive into many of the features, for instance the M.2 Drive support, or the SLI support yet (My last mobo didn't offer that). But the pictures legitimately do not do this thing justice as far as looks, it is a very sharp looking Mobo.

Memory

Wanted to fill all four RAM slots on the cheap. Mission accomplished. (and the added bonus of keeping the color scheme alive.

Video Card

I love this card, currently I'm just gaming at 1080p and this thing tackles it all with ease. MSI's software also makes it really easy to mess with the features on this card, plus the Twin Frozr keeps it chilly.

Plus due to a product key giveaway mishap with amazon, I was refunded a decent bit of the purchase price. So for 260, you really couldn't beat this card.

Case

Went a little cheap on the case, but I have no regrets, super simple design, which is what I wanted, normal amount of fan slots and plenty of room to work in. Plus I really enjoy the cable management.

5 stars, because, it's amazing for how cheap it is.

Power Supply

Wanted a powerhouse in case I decided to SLI, or upgrade to a pascal card later, or even maybe, possibly, SLI that later as well. But this thing came highly reviewed and I think for good reason.

Monitor

The monitor isn't new, it rolled over from my last build, and it's nothing really that special. Just a 23" 60hz 1080p monitor. But I did pull the front panel off and give it a fresh new look so I feel like that's worth noting.

how exactly did you get the custom back plates because i cant find it?

Stumbled upon this site when I got mine 2 months back and it seemed a bit sketch, but this makes me feel a bit better. Notice any temp differences? How was installation?

TheAntimetal submitter 1 Build 2 points 16 months ago

It literally just sits on top, has small magnets that hold it, and no noticeable temp differences

Appreciate the insight, Mate!

Yeah, I got it cheap for my last build, I thought about upgrading, but I was over my budget already regardless lol
