Upgrade from my previous build

I built this in one day but the parts (money wise) took me about 4 months to save and buy, I was buying one part at a time due to my budget and when I have extra cash, I throw it onto little knickknacks for the PC. This was a legit budget PC and yes $2k sounds like a lot but it took forever, every week I would order a part and waited patiently for all of them arrive!

Xbox One Dusk Shadow Controller - I love Call of Duty and certain games that just feel good with a controller plus blue is my favorite color.

Corsair MM300 Mat - amazing length and it doesn't scratch anything.

GoPlus White Modern Computer Desk - bought this with my first build and this table has held up amazingly and no complaints.

WALI Dual LCD Monitor Desk Mount - Found these mounts for $36 and it was easy as that!

Vesa Mount Adapter for Acer Monitors - Needed to mount the monitors on the WALI Dual Mount

Part Reviews

Read the reviews, a lot of positive things said about the i7 6700k and also I am an editor so it helps a lot.

CPU Cooler

Had this on my previous build and this bad boy is QUIET! no complaints at all and my temps are always low.

I ain't going to lie I saw this motherboard, read the reviews and definitely needed something that can be future proofed. I would have gotten the most expensive one but I was literally on a budget buying on piece at a time.

Definitely one of the best RAM, performance and speed wise. Ripjaws always get the job done (got them in white to match the color of my build)

No I do not run my OS on the ssd because it was a last minute purchase to run certain games faster, "Battlefield 1" for example.

Fast, Reliable and 3,000gbs

Bought this on 2/28/2017 for production space! I have a lot of videos and music edits I do for YouTube and side-jobs! Really awesome job!!!

Video Card

Originally wanted the 1080 but for my gaming and editing, the 1070 was just a better choice financially and it does what I need it to do.

Saw this pop up on Amazon and immediately fell in love with the case, I loved the white, the window and the damn space for everything. Whoever cannot cable manage in this case has a serious problem.

Power Supply

needed something that won't die, trusted brand and that everyone reviewed positively. Pretty much.

Optical Drive

bought way back in 2011 when I use to burn Xbox 360 games, kept it mint for years and finally found a good use for it.

Operating System

Was gifted to me (windows 7 fan but Windows 10 has grown on me).

Case Fan

It was a left over from my previous build, definitely good addition to the top of my PC. Quiet as a whistle.

Went to best buy about 3 weeks ago from this post and it was on sale for $100 each, I understand I can basically run 1440p with a constant 144hz but money was tight and these monitors get the job done.

I was shopping online and this keyboard everywhere was $140 and up, went to best buy to browse for a college laptop that my girlfriend needed and saw this keyboard at $90 and took it :D The most comfortable keys I have ever typed and games with, definitely recommend this.

Girlfriend bought me this as a gift (I still put the price because I bought her something after of almost equal value [it was more] and I though it canceled out). Other than that, mouse feels great and I suggest it to anyone!

No lie about cable management in that case , I have the black one and its idiot proof lol I have one of those monitors that's really old and its still going strong, I use it as a 2nd monitor for browsing and school stuff

Love the build and setup... great choice of parts. Only thing I would change is that ugly brown PCB on the Asus motherboard. I really didn't like Asus' Z170 boards. Thought MSI's were much better done. Asus Z270 fixed that and are much better. Other than that... A+++ and I threw you an UP too.

"ugly brown PCB on the Asus motherboard." can you pinpoint where exactly lol I know dumb question but its a serious one

ten8yp 5 Builds 1 point 24 months ago

you cant really see it in your pics but the Asus Z170 entire boards have dark brown pcb's. To some people they look black if not right beside other black parts (or put in a nice white case) but if you've seen a lot of black motherboards the difference is night and day. Other than that slight little misstep its not a bad board but for white builds I really preferred the Sabertooth S.

VinnyPlaysGames 1 Build 1 point 22 months ago

sometimes i hate myself for not going with a white build because they look so DAMN SEXY!

that case looks awesome.

might have to go white/black when i redo my setup.

+1 Nice Build. What VESA mounts did you buy? Also how are they working out, any sturdiness issues?
