Description

I got the parts back in December and I'm just now deciding to write this. This build has served me well so far and hasn't given me any major issues. The only problem I encountered, at first, was waking it up from sleep mode which greatly decreased its performance, I just had to install a driver for the 750 series drive. As for the parts:

5820K: I was thinking about either this or the 5930K but I went with this because I don't need the extra PCIe lanes.

H100i GTX: I wanted to keep my CPU nice and chilly and this works perfectly, it keeps it at an average temp of about 40-45 C when gaming.

X99 Deluxe: Great board, The amount of USB's on the back is insane!

Corsair Vengeance: Fast memory, it could have been the cause of the sleep mode issue.

980ti from EVGA: Good god the raw performance out of this thing. It keeps Rainbow Six: Siege at over 144 FPS.

The rest are just peripherals and as you can see I'm a Razer guy.

I'll post more recent photos later, but these are the only ones I have for now.

Is there any reason why your gpu isn't in the top slot, the fastest slot on your motherboard (usually the top one) should house your GPU, the pcie ssd will still work at the same speed if put in the second or third slot on the board.

Other than that Great Build :)

Yeah you probably want to fix that. Your gpu may not be getting enough bandwidth

Really? I thought that you would want your SSD in the top as I had been told in the LTT forum. I'll change that as soon as I can.

It should be on top for aesthetics however all PCI-E slots on that board are x16, it shouldnt make any difference

According to Asus 40-Lane CPU- 5 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16, x16/x16, x16/x16/x8, x8/x8/x16/x8, x8/x8/x8/x8/x8 mode) 1 1 x PCIe 2.0 x4 (max at x4 mode) 2 28-Lane CPU- 3 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16, x16/x8, x8/x8/x8) 2 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x1 mode) 1 x PCIe 2.0 x4 (max at x4 mode) *2

I believe the 5820K is a 28 lane cpu so it migh just be running at x8...still enough bandwidth for gaming anyway so isn't a big deal...not optimum though :D

5820k is 28 lane cpu. PCI x16 vs x8 performance difference is not much, however you should move the GPU to the top PCI slot and move the pcie ssd to a lower slot.

How lower of a slot?

+1 for dat Intel PCI SSD, What are the R/W speeds on that? Powerful system m8, enjoy it!

From what I hear they are around 2GB/s Read 1.5GB/s write so easily more than you will ever need, it should boot in about 4 seconds

Wow, ok there might be something wrong with my system then because it does not boot in four seconds.

Its in theory, a SATA 3 SSD boots in about 15 sec. a PCI-E runs about 4x faster R+W but things like BIOS slow it down. It should be around 8-12 seconds though

So I assume since you say the 980 ti plays most of your games around 60 FPS, you must be playing in 1440p correct?

@Raysfan98, look at the part list he is using 3 144Hz 1080p monitors. That being said I think his performance should be better then 60FPS. Maybe there is a FPS Cap on your games?

You know, I noticed the 1080p monitors, and I had hoped he included the wrong monitors on his part list. I believe his performance should be better than 60fps at medium settings UNLESS he is gaming on all three monitors at once. If he is doing surround gaming... it is extremely taxing on the CPU and GPU therefore leading to 60hz gameplay...

I'm not playing on all three monitors at once. I'm playing games like Division and Rainbow Six: Siege on it. It could be the GPU slot.

Dont bother changing your gpu to the top slot if u havent already x8/x16 isnt a big difference
