Description

Refresh from my few year old C2D E8400 machine. Used for general purpose with some light to medium gaming. No O/C.

Plan on adding a Corsair H100i.

The P/S and MB were open-box items I got for much less than listed price. The P/S had one damaged SATA plug. The M/B was missing the Q-connector piece (*update 1/12/15 - Asus refused to send me a replacement piece, purchased one from Ebay for less than $4). The case arrived in very mildly damaged condition (minor dent in top that almost looks designed and a small plastic clip broken off of front "press on/off panel" which was obviously a weak point of the design and mentioned in several reviews.

Everything assembled easily and booted on first try.

In time I'd like to upgrade the video card. I already had the R9 270x that I had used in the E8400 machine. I got it at a good price (at the time) about 4 months ago. The E8400 was a bottleneck so I didn't want to spend anymore at the time. If I find a great deal on one soon, I may Crossfire it, but will probably wait for the GTX970 to come down in price.

The monitor I had for a couple of years. I deactivated the copy of Win8.1 on my old system and used it on this one (put Win10 on old comp). Both Seagote HD's were from old system.

*Included below, I've ordered a second set of the G. Skill Sniper RAM to bump up to 16GB total. `Will probably install the additional RAM this weekend (1/16-1/18) and take some better photos.

Did you RMA the case? And what is with all of the Corsair stuff?

No, kept the case. The small dent is barely noticeable. The broken clip to the front cover is a very minor annoyance. The time/trouble/cost of RMA'ing would have been more trouble then living with the minor problems. Why Corsair? Why not? Seriously though, I started with the case. I read several articles, reviews, and watched several videos. The Corsair 750D had everything I wanted (6+ SATA drive bays, at least 3 fans and room for more, front or top USB 3.0 hookups, full tower size, sub $175.00) and had a sleek/clean look. (I chose this over the Rosewill Thor V2 based mainly on looks and reduced noise) In the past I've had power supplies that would not fit in a case. So, I started looking for a Corsair p/s. Found the TX850 at a great price refurb'ed, so got it. If I get the H100i, it will be because the case was designed for the Corsair coolers and they have great reviews. Tl;dr - I didn't start off looking for Corsair parts, just worked out that way.

There's no way I'd accept a $100+ product with flaws. I get the convenience of keeping it but I wouldn't be able to do it.

I have two rooms,a garage, and an attic full of cases with damage from shipping. Just learned to accept it long ago. This is one of the best conditions I've ever received a case in. Damage is too mild to photograph. Plus, I'm very laid back and not the OCD type. I'm more upset with ASUS for not replacing the $4 Q-connector especially when the email they send to confirm receipt of my request begins, "Dear Valued Customer, Thank you for supporting and using ASUS products." Shouldn't they be supporting their customers?

Thank you for looking at my build and commenting on it. I really appreciate the feedback!!!!!

Finally installed the 2nd pair of RAM on 2/20/15. Forgot to take more pictures while I had the case open. Runs well, no noticeable improvement, but glad its there for the future. Still want to get a Corsair H100i.
