Description

I have wanted play PC for almost a year now; ever since i started playing Overwatch I realised how many benefits PC gaming offered and soon after I started to regret my purchase of the PS4. Though at first I still played PlayStation, only about 2 months ago have I been serious about getting into PC gaming. At this moment in time my poop £400 laptop started getting REALLY slow - another reason to get myself a PC. I deliberated over which part to buy (and when) for about a month; before saving up for a while (also about a month). Delivery of parts took roughly 5 days and the build process took me the best part of a Sunday. I have now owned this setup for nearly a month and I love it more and more everyday. Coming from that £400 laptop, everything feels ultra responsive and 1440p is an absolute beauty.

I planned for this build to be around £1400 which could absolutely dominate any game at 1440p 60Hz, with the power to go 1440p 144Hz if i (ever) get round to buying such an expensive display. I settled on the parts you can see on the left. Ever since i got this PC, I dont think I've ever dropped below 60fps - even with 2 games running, it doesn't break a sweat. Temps are cool; listed on the details section - in summary, the Ryzen never goes above 70°, and the GeForce only ever hits 70° at max load. I am satisfied with every single component of this system and the build on the whole has been absolutely fantastic (also makes for pretty good flexing on my friends). Thank you for reading!

P.S May update photos in the future with photos of different colours. Also, I apologise for the potato camera.

Part Reviews

CPU

What a beast. 12 threads @ 4GHz for £139.99, good **** AMD. Seriously, coming from a laptop whose processor had half the clock speed and a third of the thread count this thing is hilarious, unbelievably fast. And for £140, honestly AMD take my money.

CPU Cooler

Beautiful. Mounting this was easy and the temps that it provides are very cool (though I've never had anything else so I don't know how good). And the RGB effects are accurate and bright. Only took a star off because you can get better for £60, but overall a solid heatsink with great RGB effects.

Motherboard

This motherboard is an absolute champ when it comes to features and performance and that tasty RGB goodness. And it was only £114 when I bought it. It wrecked other mobos in its price category; it uses a 6+4 phase! Only gripe here is a BIOS bug where above a 1.32V Vcore the ryzen boots at exactly 1546MHz. Weird. Another issue is that the M.2 is directly behind the main PCIe slot. Still, for the insane value this mobo provides I'm still keeping its 5 star rating.

Memory

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. Beautiful. The colours... mesmerising. In the photos and online it may look very pastel-ly but in person they are STUNNING. Worth every penny.

Storage

256GB of NVMe for £55? Damn, sign me up. I boot in under 10 seconds, and that alone warrants a 5 star. For the price, this SSD is brilliant.

Storage

I mean, a hard drive is a hard drive. Haven't had any problems but haven't had any 'woah it can do this!?' moments either.

Video Card

Wow. Chomps through whatever I give it at at least 120 fps at 1440p. The aesthetics on this card are literally perfect too. I also got Destiny 2 for free with this card; yup, its amazing. EVGA are fabulous for providing the step-up program too if the new RTX cards are worth my money.

Case

Dream case. Aesthetics of this thing are exactly what I was looking for (not too extravagant, has glass / see - through front). And for a reasonable price too. However, a large problem with this case is back panel space. It was a 2 man job to get it on. Knocking off a star for that.

Power Supply

Semi modular, gold rated, 650W for £70. Whats not to like?

Monitor

Wow. This monitor looks STUNNING. Its 1440p IPS too, and all for the unbelievable price of £180. Astonishing value. Some might say that 24" is a tad small but at this price point who cares?

Mouse

I had bought this mouse much earlier for a pre-owned price of £37, nearly half of what the RRP is. The mouse itself is great and accurate, a large step up from my previous mouse. And the RGB here is mesmerising. Worth £70? No, but I think the £37 I paid for it was a good deal.

Love this build. The blue theme really is eye candy. +1

For a moment i thought that it was a 570x but saw a 460xthat i still don't see what's their differences

And those case fans are amazing ♥ I didn't knew them. I started to think that somehow you had bought some Cougar fans (that are kinda like these).

Thank you very much!

The 460X has tempered glass on the front and side, while the 570X has glass on the front, side top and rear panel (as far as I'm aware).

The case fans were an amazing find; 5 RGB fans for £45! Controlling them is a bit fiddly as you have to open up the case and press buttons on the fan hub - no software.

Still though, £45 for 5 RGB fans is very cheap and i would recommend them if you want to have some (great but not mind-blowing) fans for a low price - Corsair's LL120's are almost double the price per fan.

Thanks for the explanation ;)

Yeah, that's a great deal! You made a good call, despite being controled by buttons.

The cougar fans i was talking about: the non RGB ones and the RGB ones are on this picture

And yes, the new Corsair fans are ridiculously expensive, but sure it's eye candy af!

one thing is that getting a 1700 would be better and cost the same as having the 1600 with the cryorig because of the quality of the wraith spire is amazing even for overclocking
