All of these amazing builds that I've seen on here have inspired me to keep upgrading my computer. This is a simple first time build that I originally started by compiling free parts from my friends. I was always a console gamer and mainly used a laptop for low-end games but decided to start learning more about building my own PC.
I started with an old HP tower with super old components then added a new cheap 500W PSU to get it to stop crashing. The tower was tailored and built for a specific business so upgrading any other components pretty much required a brand new case. I then decided to upgrade the CPU/MOBO to an AMD FX-6300 and Asus M5A97 R2.0. This game that's in alpha stage called Squad had trouble with the AMD processor which just couldn't handle the load under single-core usage. I decided to shell out the money and finally upgrade to a better build while still keeping it affordable. Here is the list of parts, where I purchased them or got them from, and for how much:
CPU: Micro Center = $219.99
Cooler: Amazon.com = $23.99
MOBO: Micro Center = $134.99
Memory: Micro Center = $71.96
SDD: Micro Center = $59.99
HDD: Old HP tower
GPU: Friend after he upgraded to a GTX 970
Case: Gift from cousin retail about $60
PSU: Micro Center = $161.55 - $20 rebate = $141.55 (Should have ordered from Amazon but hindsight is 20/20)
Drive: Old HP tower
OS: If I told you I'd have to kill you
Monitor: Brother after he upgraded to high-end dual monitors
Keyboard: Some POS found in storage that works just fine
Mouse: Amazon.com(actual mouse not listed but price is similar) = $9.99
Headset: Amazon.com (actual headset not listed but price is similar) = $9.99
Total Cost to me: $732.45 not including items from friends.
If you've made it this far, then thank you for reading all of this nonsense. You're a kind human.
