Build

Das Mini Machine

by Almostbob

Description

Alright, all done with my college ITX build! Beats the consoles in every way and didn't cost too much more (~$100 more). Specs: -Intel Pentium G3258 (20th anniversary of Pentium) -8gb Adata XPG 1600mhz -MSI Z97I AC Mini ITX Motherboard -120GB Kingston SSD -1TB WD Blue Caviar HDD -XFX R7 250 2GB Low Profile GPU -InWin BP671 Case/ 200W PSU -LG Blueray Read/Writer Works great for me, runs BF4 at medium settings in 1080p and ultra if I dumb it down to 720p, fast boots ect. If your considering a small case like this one you better have patience, building in it and getting the cable management right too a loooooooot of work at trial/error (mostly error). Hope you guys like it!

I like the blue lightning!

It was funny I got the blue led fan from Best Buy and got really lucky that the colors matched up! I love it too

Great cable work.

Thank you! Spent about 3 hours getting it right!

200watt PSU??? But again, 65 watt GPU plus 53 watt PSU is pretty OK. Great build. +1

Almostbob submitter 3 Builds 1 point 55 months ago

I know its low but thats what the case comes with, runs really well actually now power delivery issues.

Zedzer 2 Builds 1 point 55 months ago

no* lol.

PowerfulTrojan 1 point 55 months ago

any idea what the fps would be on games with maxed settings?

Almostbob submitter 3 Builds 1 point 55 months ago

Maxed settings on BF4 I was getting about 15 fps (which was actually really good considering this was a $80 card), it can run easer games like Fallout or World of Tanks with ease though so it just depends what you throw at it.

Ya, the 250 isn't really a gaming card. Lucky to get 30 fps on medium at 1080p in BF4.

Almostbob submitter 3 Builds 2 points 55 months ago

I pull 45 on adverage on medium actually, you'd be surprised what it can do for $90.

Is that with or without Mantle?

Almostbob submitter 3 Builds 1 point 55 months ago

Without

Call_Me_Apache 1 point 47 months ago

It doesn't beat next generation tho

Almostbob submitter 3 Builds 1 point 44 months ago

It does actually, most next gen is at 720p still and this was doing better at 1080p

Personally I'd have gotten a 750 Ti, but a great build nonetheless. Good job +1

Almostbob submitter 3 Builds 1 point 55 months ago

Wouldn't have fit in the case, as I said above

Uberkill160 1 point 55 months ago

Ever consider dual graphics? The R7 250 and certain CPUs (like the A10 7850K) partner up really well.

Zedzer 2 Builds 1 point 55 months ago

HE could just overclock the crap out of the Pentium even with the stock cooler. He should get around 4.7 GHz at max 60 degree load temps. Its epic and boosts benchmarks WAAAY UP. He should try it.

Uberkill160 1 point 55 months ago

Yeah, he could do that too.

Jamotelli 1 point 47 months ago

Reminds me a bit of the wii! Would this run Arma 3 at medium settings?

Almostbob submitter 3 Builds 2 points 44 months ago

Sadly no, I tried to run it and the gpu isnt powerful enough :(

Jamotelli 1 point 41 months ago

K thanks anyway

Sweet looking build mate! The lighting looks really cool. You could have gotten a cheaper motherboard and a 2x4gb kit would be cheaper, but other than that, great budgeting! The only thing I'm leery of is the included 200W PSU but it should be OK. I'm sure the PSU snobs will get on you about that, lol.

Almostbob submitter 3 Builds 1 point 44 months ago

Oh it was just ment to be a temporary system, cost wasnt my primary concern. Thanks for the feedback though!

I am planning a similar build to this one but I am concerned if a GTX 750 Ti would fit, I don't wanna fit anything inferior to that. Also I want to keep the budget for the parts and energy consumption as low as possible while being able to play most of the games out there. I think a MSI GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card should fit well.

I'm getn ready to build a very similar rig, is that card starving for power at all with the stock 200 on that in win?,is was concerned it might if I put it in there

I wanted to get a 750 ti or something like that but all of them were thicker then 1.5 slots and wouldn't have fit in the case because the case only supports a single slot GPU with only a couple mm to spare for airflow, I would have to cut a hole in the side of the case for the heat sink. This GPU is decent, does what I need it to do.

Blockpotato 2 points 55 months ago

But the 250X is not Low Pofile

The GTX 750 Ti LP is the best Low Profile card ^
