Description

This build failed.

I had it together several times and in several iterations but it was never stable. The exact reason was never really determined but when I finally replaced the motherboard with an ASUS, the rest of the components worked well.

So, I leave you to draw your own conclusions.

I ultimately use this computer in a revised version. The main components listed here are still the same. There is now more RAM and many more HDDs in the system. The only thing I hope to do is add an SSD. Once I swapped out the ASRock motherboard for the ASUS all of my problems magically disappeared... regardless of what other components (or the load) I put on the computer.

Did you try to call ASRock to help with the mobo before swapping it out?

Oh, yeah -- they swapped it once but it wasn't defective per se. It couldn't properly support (coordinate) the amount of RAM and processor.

I admit, it could be settings but still.... I wasn't doing anything fantastic.

Thank you! I'm going to pick one up.

I would also appreciate it if you updated us on the status of your rebate if/when you get it.

There was no rebate at the time I bought this stuff. I built this several months ago....

So the video card seems a little cramped in there, do cards over 280mm fit?

Sorry, I've not visited this site in a while. The card is tight. I wouldn't go any larger in this case. In fact, I wish I bought a bigger case. If I do any heavy maintenance (rebuild) this build, I will be getting a better case.
