Back in November I decided to sell my PS3 and go with an apu budget rig. So far with the 5 months of having this system I have no regrets except for 2. First one is that i wish i went with an A10-5800k and second one is that i wish i went with a higher end motherboard, but I don't care much since this will become my htpc at the end of the year once i build my REAL gaming rig lol. Have not done any overclocking and have not done any benchmarking since I do not know how to. The cpu cooler I got free from a friend for installing his new H100i. Obviously all these prices were sales prices during the holidays and got awesome deals! Best 250sh dollars I have ever spent! ... I have no name for this system yet and am open to suggestions for a name!

Added a 5th picture showing which way my airflow is setup. I have one 120mm fan on front of case pulling in air. The cpu cooler is pulling that air and blowing it out the back with that other 120mm fan on the back helping pull out the hot air. Where the green question marks are is where i have a question. Should i add more fans or leave be? If i add more where should i add and which way should i have the airflow?

update decided to name my pc "Opie" .... Let's see who can guess why I named it "Opie"

Forgot to mention... the Source 220 case does not come with rubber grommets, so i emailed customer support recently and asked for grommets from the Phantom 410 case and they fit perfectly on the Source 220 case. Did the best at cable management that I could... This is my first build ever. Also not finished using my Sharpie yet as you can see at the bottom cables and sata cables! :D

LOL OMG SHARPIE, -HIGH FIVE- MATE! Although, I must ask, why the trouble? Your case doesn't have a window. xD If I may suggest, maybe vinyl dye would be better for next time? Seeing as the sharpie isn't fully opaque, and has a faint purple sheen to it.

never thought of vinyl die, and i know there is no window but was just testing out the sharpie since i've seen a few builders do this.

I just asked the customer support how i can go about purchasing just the rubber grommets from the phantom 410 case so that i can use them in my source 220 case and they shipped them to me for free. NZXT has some pretty dam good customer support! :D

this is an old school sticker from about 3-4 years ago that i acquired from No Fear energy drink. Got tired of looking at a plain black case so i put the sticker there :p

Someone please give me Pros/Cons of my build. What I could have done better and all that nonsense. Also looking for a link on how to do bench marking. My goals are to become real good with computers, doing case mods, etc etc and start landing sponsors to do sponsored themed builds and what not. I caught the Builder's Fever lol

Well, you can run 3dmark or 3dmark11 to benchmark the gaming performance. There is a field to list it on completed builds too. Unigien has become popular too.

Also, if you have not manually specified your RAM timings, you are probably running it at well below their potential speed, and it is affecting your gaming performance. Almost all motherboards default ram to run at 1333 mhz for compatibility reasons.

its at 1866mhz... when i first got the computer put together and saw it running at 1333mhz i was like what the F O.O and then figured out that i had to set it to 1866mhz :p

there has been an Asus 6670 1gb gddr5 on craigslist in my town for 2 weeks straight now for 45 bucks... waiting one more week and gonna sweet talk the person into 35 bucks hopefully :D

Well Hello there suihigh, Great little build you have here, as you seen I'll be doing an AMD test drive build with something very similar would love to hear more of your thoughts on this build.

A key to making sure you have the right air flow is very simple. Try and have one more fan as intake over exhaust.

Wish I was lucky enough to test drive products or get sponsored for builds :p I am planning on swapping out my current fans and getting Noctua fans, and getting an additional fan added to the front of my case! Planning on getting an ATX mobo, modular corsair psu, 2tb hdd, a10 6800k and radeon 7750 sometime later this summer! :D

decided not to upgrade to the a10 5800k, will either get a better FM2 mobo and the new A10 6800k, or i might go with an FX cpu and mobo for it :D... just ordered a 2tb hdd which will be here tomorrow :D... slow upgrades in progress :p

Hey, I have the same Motherboard and was just wondering if you had any troubles using a graphics card with it ? A lot of the current gpu's are rather big and from what i can tell, a gpu would block the sata ports. how did you manage to fit your 7950 in without blocking them ? I tried looking the pictures but none of them show the gpu installed

i never uploaded any new pics of my gpu installed, i dont think i have any sata ports blocked, at least not that im aware of. All i did for using only my gpu, i had to go into bios and turn off igpu and put it on dedicated gpu. Its been awhile since i did that so cant remember exactly where to go in bios for that.

Those prices were during Christmas sales during 2012, and the gpu was a few months before the huge popularity of bitcoin mining. Now this gpu goes for around 400 dollars used.

Hi, my case is 7.1" wide and yours 7.68" wide. Do you think that Cooler Master 212 Evo will fit into my case? I like that cooler so much.

I don't think that it will fit inside your case. Mine is barely almost touching the side panel when i put it on. What case are you using?

Why not some cheap 2133 RAM instead of 1866? I'm sure you know RAM helps the APU (given you bought 1866).

If you look at the motherboard im using, it only supports up to 1866 :( eventually i'll throw in a different mobo and prob 4x4gb of 2133mhz ram :D

Haven't tried FarCry 3. Tried a little of BF3. If i rememember correctly i was on mainly high settings with a couple settings on medium pulling around 30-35 fps.

I find it hard to game at 30fps. Before, I used to lower my settings to get at least 50. 60fps is ideal. However, without a dedicated GPU you'll never reach it. And in your build I wouldn't recommned one.

Yea, i highly doubt i will throw any gpu's into this, but i see a deal on craigslist where someone is selling a radeon 5770 for 60 and i am very tempted to buy it and use that to hold me off til i do my gaming rig build in Nov/Dec

Just the APU. Was considering throwing in the 6670 for the hybrid crossfire, but decided not to. If i ever run across a 6670 on craigslist for a price that i can't refuse, then i will probably try my hand at the hybrid crossfire.

My gaming rig has a lot of time of researching stuff and going to be a really nice balanced powerful best bang for your buck rig. But with the new nvidia 700 series out soon and haswell, i will be possibly changing a few things by the time i build it in Nov/Dec (Christmas sales ftw!)

Just saw one of the new 700 series cards and gonna be priced around 650sh dollars... out of my price range lol... was looking at 500-600 max for 2 gpu's together. Probably will achieve this goal during November's Black friday sales or Cyber monday :D Hoping them 7970 ghz editions will be on sale at a killer price :p

By the time I get to purchasing some of the stuff during Nov/Dec I will already have the psu, hdd and ssd and possibly one of the gpu's. I will obviously be reusing my ram and cpu cooler and i will just sideline my apu pc til i get a better mobo so i can throw in 2133mhz ram and have some usb 3.0 to use :D If I hold off on getting a gpu and just purchase 2 during the Christmas sales, i really hope to snag 2 7970 ghz edition gpu's at a good price :D or 2 gtx 670s or 680s... i should have my mind made up by then what gpu's i will get
