Description

There is probably some things I could have done differently, but overall I love they way my first build came out! I'm mainly using this just for gaming, but I also use this to record my gameplay, edit videos, use photoshop, and eventually make video games of my own.

good build dude! Some people will probably not read the description and get onto you about the 16 gigs of RAM, but I think you did great ! more pictures please. waits for jipster69 to comment

More RAM the better!! ;)

The only two things I ever question when I look at the part list is the CPU+GPU Match (example: 4790K + 750 Ti) and whether or not a SSD could have been picked over another part that shouldn't really be picked lol (example: picking only a HDD but spending $300 on a Motherboard or $800 on a GPU when a $150 MB/$400 GPU could have sufficed and used that money towards a SSD or two)

Nice build, I have pretty much the same setup since my latest CPU upgrade. I'm on air cooling in that 550D case but for some reason the 2 120mm's in the front seems to not allow enough airflow, it's silent sure enough, but I can't get to overclocking the CPU as I would like.

So three questions, what fans do you have as your front 120's? Is that a fan speed controller in the top optical slot? And last, what are the noise levels like with that H100i?

Thanks in advance,

I have 2 Corsair Air Series AF120 Red 52.2 CFM 120mm Fans in the front, yes that's a NZXT Sentry Mix 2 Fan Controller on the top slot, and I also changed the fans on the H100i with the AF120 just to make it a little quieter. But the noise level isn't too bad with the H100i, especially with the 550D case.

Nice option on the fan controller, I need to see if I have room to add one myself because I do have 1 optical drive and 1 HDD and 1 SSD occupying those 5.25" bays at the moment, but with 4 bays I might be able to squeeze a single slot one in, or remove my optical drive as I rarely use it anyway.

And for the airflow problem, I think it may just be because of the case. I think the hard drive bays stop a lot of the air from flowing through the rest of the case.

I removed both Hard Drive Cages and installed my 1 HDD and 1 SSD in the 5.25 bays that I wasn't using the adapters are pretty cheap. I have pretty decent airflow from front to back, I think my big problem is I'm using Noctua silence optimized fans with only 1000rpm.

I think I'm going to upgrade the fans to the Industrial Noctua's or at least something with a lot more "ooomph" to push air through. And actually mount a 140mm for the exhaust to be sure to clear the hot air out more effectively. I really don't want to have to go to a water cooling solution if I don't have to, even an AIO is a bit of noise I can avoid.

Thanks for the reply.

There are always things that could have been differently, no need to dwell - just take notes for your next upgrades/build. Know I am.

Love how that RAM looks on the mobo, BTW. If you could find some proper red filters for those logos, that would be epic.

Yeah I agree if the logos were red it would look a lot better. I'll just have to look around for some filters.

Case fans are..?

They are Corsair Air Series AF120 Red 52.2 CFM 120mm Fans

Are those the Corsair SP120 fans? I have CM JetFlo's in my rig, and they put out MUCH less light than yours. Great job on the build :) I love the sleeving on the cables, did you do that yourself or did it come with the PSU?

I have pretty much the same build except for the motherboard and ram :D Its funny how most of the people building PC's these days go for pretty much the same parts as us.

If you have time upload some pics with the lights in the room off. Does your case side-panel have a window?

I have Corsair Air Series AF120 Red 52.2 CFM 120mm Fans and the cables came with the PSU which is awesome! And no the case does not have a side window. I had a case with a side window picked out but then I changed cases at the last second because some of the reviews of the previous case said that there wasn't a lot of room for cable management and I thought this one looked nicer.

I will add more pictures soon! I have been pretty busy lately and haven't had much time to even use my computer. Thanks for all the comments!

Things I plan on changing or have changed: 1) I plan I getting filters to change the color of the CPU cooler and GPU logos to red 2) I have changed to fan controller LED to red 3) I am going to get a new mouse so that it'll be red 4) And I might try to make the side panel windowed so I can see the inside of it. Not sure how much work that'll be and it will probably make my computer a little louder, but it may be worth it.

Yeah I took the pictures as soon as I finished building it and at that point I didn't change the color of the LED and I'm going to look for a filter or something to try and change the GPU color to red.
