Description

This was my first build in over 15 years. I built computers for myself and my high school back in the day but tech really has changed. I found myself back in the market for a computer and decided to give it a go. I had a blast making this build and the great thing is that my son got excited watching me make mine so now he is buying pieces so he can make one himself.

Really the hardest part was getting all the smaller wires plugged in. I was worried about bending pins over.

As far as use I plan on doing some photo editing and light gaming. Its also going to be used for college. Yup, in my thirties and going back. I want the kids to know its never to late to try and better yourself.

Edit: I do know that I don't have a GPU. I have the 1050ti coming and should be here in the next few days. Just couldn't wait to get the build up.

She is a good looking lady. If I do say so myself.

I feel your pain with those tiny front IO cables. I wish more case manufacturers bundled them as a single connector instead of a few tiny ones.

aetas_20 submitter 2 Builds 1 point 10 months ago

Right? Plugging a single cable with one connection point was a little troublesome. Managed to not break anything though.

I had an old Asus Sabertooth board that came with adaptors, you would attach the IO wires to the adaptor out of the case, and then the adaptor just plugged on to the motherboard. It was genius and saved me some aggravation, especially since that motherboard was removed and reinstalled a few times during it's life.

I got one with my Asus X470

Hey man, love the build. I'm actually looking to do a very similar build, but I'm currently thinking of the GA X370 Gaming 5 instead of B350-F Strix basically just cause I'm concerned the silver-grey heat sinks messing with the whole black white colour scheme. What you think? Do the Strix heat sinks particularity stand out in the build (specifically when the RGBs are going)?

aetas_20 submitter 2 Builds 1 point 10 months ago

The heat sinks don’t stand out nearly as much once the lights are on. They do stand out quite a bit though.

I see no GPU in these pictures. but I'll be damned if that is not some of the best camera work I have seen on this site in my time. I really love how clean this build really is.

I have a 1050ti on its way right now. Holding out for awhile till prices come down and then upgrading. I have been a photographer for a long time. Plus I was really excited about getting photos of my new build.

Ametista 2 Builds 2 points 10 months ago

WOW. The quality of these photos is stunning! Please do update when you get the gpu :P

(which camera did you use?)

aetas_20 submitter 2 Builds 2 points 10 months ago

I will update as soon as I get it. Should be the 10th of feb that it’s going in. Crossing fingers everything goes well. All the photos were shot with a Nikon D700 Nikon 50mm 1.8 Sigma Macro 105mm

I use to have a photography business. I use to have a photography business I just used the same ideas. I actually have a lot more photos but didn’t want to post them all because I thought people wouldn’t like them.

aetas_20 submitter 2 Builds 2 points 10 months ago

Edit: I checked out your build also. You have amazing photos. Those are beautiful. You have a good eye. Great build btw.

Ametista 2 Builds 1 point 10 months ago

That's so sweet of you! You could shoot a thousand photos and I would still see them all! do it :D

Also I'm planning to make a new itx build very soon, so let's keep in touch and I'll show you. (actually I have everything ready except the cpu+mobo, I'm waiting the 14th)

aetas_20 submitter 2 Builds 2 points 10 months ago

Sounds awesome. Excited to see what you have coming up.

Ametista 2 Builds 1 point 10 months ago

I even bought myself my first Canon reflex, happy birthday to me~

aetas_20 submitter 2 Builds 1 point 6 months ago

Update done today with the gpu and all the lights going.

Ametista 2 Builds 2 points 6 months ago

I love your build and photos so bad! :D

aetas_20 submitter 2 Builds 2 points 6 months ago

Thank you. I’m super happy with the colors for sure.

Try Thunder for a clean machine. Vroom Vroom!

If I may offer a cosmetic recommendation, buy some cable combs. They'll really give it that perfect ocd appealing look and feel. They have some on ebay cheap and cable mod too I think. Great looking build though.

aetas_20 submitter 2 Builds 1 point 10 months ago

Thanks for the idea. I will have to check that out.

tepegozersin 1 point 10 months ago

Nice build mate! Can you get the ram up to 3000hz ?

aetas_20 submitter 2 Builds 2 points 10 months ago

Just booted for the first time Friday. Not yet but I just wanted to get a clean boot. I’m goong to work on my speed on sun.

aetas_20 submitter 2 Builds 2 points 10 months ago

Just got back home and went through bios and DOCP and got my memory up to 2800mhz 1.350 volts. That’s better then the 2155 and I’m happy. I tried to go to 2933 but it would not post. I want it to stay stable so I’m leaving it at 2800

tepegozersin 1 point 10 months ago

Thanks for reply and , i hope one day you can run it at 3000hz lol.

Potatofy 1 point 21 days ago

Why would you get a 1050 when you have $1500?

bardiafar -4 points 10 months ago

Nice build! Just one problem... You should balance the parts a bit, a ryzen 7 1700 with a 1050ti? Its like putting caviar on a trash can.

aetas_20 submitter 2 Builds 6 points 10 months ago

I’m not willing to spend 3x as much as a card is worth in the current market. I’m waiting for things to settle and then replacing it for sure though.

Eltech 20 Builds 2 points 10 months ago

This. ^ I get you. (It's understandable.) +1

LeMMingSlayeR 22 Builds 2 points 10 months ago

I agree. You can run that 1050ti until the graphics card market reenters this universe's reality, and you know that whatever card you get, the 1700 will keep it fed. Truth be told, if you're gaming at 1080p and aren't a stickler for high settings, that 1050ti is not a bad card at all. It will play everything out there, albeit at medium settings.

aetas_20 submitter 2 Builds 2 points 10 months ago

Yeah, it’s hard though. New machine and all I wanted to go the biggest and best at least a 1070 maybe a 1080, if my wife didn’t kill me but I just can’t spend the amount they are be asked for now. Thanks for the compliments.

bardiafar 2 points 10 months ago

Good thinking I would never think of that :)
