Description

This was my first build after a 10 year hiatus. My reactions we're #1: PC cases have come a looong way and #2: What the F is going on with memory and graphics card prices!

The requirements for this build were:

  • Compact & Quiet (located in the living room)
  • Upgradable
  • Able to stream games to Nvidia Shield TV
  • Internal storage only for games. All other storage needs NAS or cloud based.

This is a very good build, remember to enable XMP for the 3000Mhz DDR4

+1. After XMP enabled, Mhz increased 800+ to spec'ed 3000Mhz without problems.

You complain about GPU prices and then get a 1060 6gb for $250. How bro??

man, about a month ago, a 1060 6GB went for $350+! you, my friend, have waited for the absolutely perfect time to buy! and paired with the i5 8500, and 16GB RAM, that must be one hell of a baller build man!

Was that case hard to build in?

Plenty of motherboard preassembly prior to mounting in the case, but other than that, very straight forward and a pleasure.

+1 nice!!! very clean setup. its refreshing to see a build that is not lit up like a christmas tree. Just a thought you can buy custom back plates to go on your GPU to protect it from dust and what have you. I got mine from v1tech and have no complaints. I have one on my GPU. If you ever want to see one. It is under my complete builds tab on my page.

I am thinking about building something similar but with a i5-8600 instead. Is your description accurate? Only 40c under load? If not how hot does it get with that cooler?

Running Heaven (quality 'High', anti-aliasing '8x, full screen, 1920x1080), I get CPU=40C and GPU=61C (20C ambient).

Looks like a clean build, but your ram and do I cooler are almost as much as your gpu

Always a pleasure to see superb cable management, even in a non-transparent case. I am torn between the Nano S and NZXT's H200 for my next build. Going with this would save me $30, but deprive me that beautiful view of my build inside. Unlike TG, I don't like acrylic as it isn't as durable.
