I put this bad boy together the other day and am getting great results for the games I play! I'm running Skyrim and Borderlands 2 on ultra without having to overclock and after playing for 6hrs the core temp is under 60c. So if you are looking for a decent first time build. Go for gold with this one!

Part Reviews

So far so good! This CPU is great for budget PC builds!

Not disappointed so far! Good quality for what I was looking for, and I am already using it again for another build that you can check out on my page!. Gigabyte hasn't let me down for anything yet!

Good memory for the cost! Got these on sale for $40 and just ordered more for another build!

Doing its job! Downloaded Windows on this bad boy in ten minutes flat! Keep it up!

What can I say? Its a Hard Drive, it does what it needs to do.

Video Card

Although this is an older GPU it works great! Ultra setting on Skyim and Borderlands2! Cant wait to keep using this product!

You get what you pay for. Other than being rather plain looking this case is good quality though it would be nice if there were more slots for 2.5

Good looking build, my wife has a FX6300 build and it has never let her down. I would suggest replacing the stock cooler, even if you are not planning on overclocking an after market cooler is much quieter.

Not to mention a Custom CPU Cooler just plan looks better than Stock !!

always nice to see a fx6300 getting around. if you do plan on overclocking, get a aftermarket cpu cooler and some decent thermal paste. it will really drop the temps. have you run any benchmarks yet???

cwuzzell 2 points 44 months ago

I see people talk about thermal paste when overclocking is mentioned... what does it do and why is it necessary for overclocking?

Growliff1234 2 points 44 months ago

It prevents metal on metal contact between your motherboard and CPU cooler, it helps transfer heat. There are some brands and models of it that are better.

cwuzzell 1 point 44 months ago

Oh! that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.

It isn't just for overclockers either, every CPU needs some sort of thermal paste.

this article can explain all about it a lot better than i can. basically thermal paste fills the imperfections in between the cpu and heat sink on the cooler. cheap thermal paste will not do the job.

when you overclock a cpu, you are making the cpu work harder and in most cases you have to raise the voltage. by doing so, the cpu starts to generate more heat.

Most Decent CPU Coolers such as the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO already come with Thermal Paste that is good enough to get the job done..

People claim that certain Paste can still get you better temps though.

Paste that came with my Cooler Master CPU Coolers have the system setting under 35C even with moderate load.

Highly recommend watching a video or two on applying Thermal Paste. Common mistake is to apply Way more than is actually needed. Using the Large Gran of Rice Method is what I have seen recommended.

Please post an updated picture or two when you get the Custom CPU Cooler on there just for ME.. Seeing stock CPU Coolers makes me want to puke Grin....

Fun Times !!

Skylord 1 point 44 months ago

It's nice to see peoples build guides come to life! :). I hope you enjoy your build!

This is pretty similar to my REDRUM It's been great for 1080p gaming. The only time I really notice much noise is when the GPU fans kick in.

jnichols22 submitter 1 Build 1 point 44 months ago

Yeah I've noticed a bit of noise when the GPU fans kick in as well. Its pretty darn quiet when I'm not gaming though

AngerS.K.6 1 point 44 months ago

This turned out good as far as i'm concerned.

What OS are you using for this build to get such great performance? I was looking into Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 8.1 any suggestions on which i should pick?

BobLorna 1 Build 1 point 44 months ago

I'm not so sure the OS matters that much. Have you used both? If so, which do you prefer?

jnichols22 submitter 1 Build 1 point 43 months ago

i'm actually using windows 10. Since it just came out and I hadn't reviewed it yet, and so far so good! You can never go bad with windows 7 though

Hey :D I made an account just to post this comment - devoted or what. Anyway, I was wondering what kind of FPS you get on Skyrim (mainly whether it'd be able to handle some ENBs while maintaining a playable FPS), and can you play GTA V on at least High settings? Also would there be anything to change? I probably wouldn't upgrade any parts within 2 years of building it, so they'd need to last me :P I've got a current budget of around £400 for the actual computer, and I've even applied for a part time job to go towards it ._. This will be my first PC Build ever - I'll link the laptop I've been gaming on for 2 years (don't judge pls), which could achieve a measly 20fps on medium settings. Anyway, thanks :3 (Here's the laptop I mentioned ;w; [REMOVED] )
