Description

Rendering with Octane for LightWave 3D 1600W Power Supply probably overkill, the 3 Titan X's with the GTX-780 still draws under 1,000 Watts. build went smooth, had to use custom support bracket on bottom graphics card due to 800 D only having 7 slots in rear, so I cant use display ports on 3rd Titan, not that I need to.

Went with Titan VS GTX-980 due to the 12 GB Video ram

Machine does kill all games at 5760 * 1080, no issues there.

Mate, give the rest of your setup some love too.

Well you have such a nice build, would be a shame if something happened to that Card table.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Bro did you have like 6k just laying around?

Sadly I ran out of money...hence only 3 Titans, and no water-cooling for them.

Its in a rental, not at my house. But it got too big to move, so 50% of time I will just access its processing power remotely.

With 3 GTX Titan X's he's reduced to a card table.

  • 2 points

If the table collapses...then the cards are still protected in the 800D

I'm just trying to understand the purpose behind all this power. Just to me to much.... But I lie I would do the same thing If I had a lot of money but it's still crazy overkill.

I'm pretty sure there is nothing practical about this, but amazing build nonetheless! O_O +1

why is the 780 SLI with the titan x ??

just asking ??

  • 1 point

This is fan cooled? How many fans do you need?

  • 1 point

The CPU is water cooled with 2 fans, the graphics cards are all reference coolers, they exhaust out the back of the case. I have 3 140 MM fans moving air into the case, as well as the radiator fans

  • 1 point

I'm getting a build like this, but idk how to set up a water cooling for CPU so I think I might just get a Cooler master hyper 212 evo, or should I get water cooling? Also I have a 900D where should I place my fans? Sorry one last thing, exhaust coolers on the GPU is fine, no overheat?

  • 1 point

The reference coolers do throttle down if they get warm, the Titans actually run cooler than the 780, there is so much overkill in the system , I don't mind that they slow down a bit, for processing power and heat generation, they cant be beat.

  • 1 point

Do you actually run a 780 well with the three titans like do I need one?

  • 1 point

The titans are SLI'd, the GTX 780 is doing PhysX, if I am running Octane for LightWave, then they all work as a team, and get allocated their workload, no SLI there. I bought the Titans for their parallel processing power, not their graphics capability, even though that's a nice benefit.

  • 1 point

I think I'm going to get water cooling for mine

  • 1 point

Can someone explain why he has the 780 dedicated to PhysX? And also, wut is PhysX

  • 1 point

Without accurate physics simulation even the most beautiful game feels static and lifeless. PhysX taps into the power of NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX GPUs to create incredible effects and scenes filled with dynamic destruction, particle based fluids, and life-like animation. Reviewers attest, games like Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Batman: Arkham Origins, Borderlands 2, and Metro: Last Light are better with GPU-accelerated PhysX effects enabled

  • 1 point

So it's basically a feature that improves physics in games?

  • 1 point

yes, since I do not have 4 titans, and had a couple 780's around, I may as well use them, I can SLI the titans, and assign PhysX to the GTX 780

hold on, titan X can't do phys x?

ps. how's the back of the case doing? is it able to withstand 4 GPUSs? LOL

  • 2 points

They can but I am talking about dedicated hardware accelerated phys x card.

  • 2 points

seems good, and I do have the GTX780 set up as a dedicated PhysX card

Octane does not care, a cuda core is a core for calculations. You can mix any Nvidia card and it will use it equally.

Spend almost $7500 on a PC but doesn't buy an actual desk for it. Seems legit.

Sure it can play those fancy new games and render 3d imagery, but can it do the impossible? CAN IT RUN MINESWEEPER???
