I decided to build this PC to play the Witcher 3 Complete Edition. I experienced some minor issues in the beginning. The PC wouldn't start on the first initial boot and one of the front panel LED connector in the case was missing. I had to RMA the case. I got the PC to boot after testing two other PSU. I'm still not sure why the PC didn't boot the first time around. I did try dusting the window on the case with a brush. Big mistake. The brush left minor scratches on the window. I was so disappointed. Overall, the PC turned out to be great and putting it together was a fun experience.

My old 2008 PC: Intel C2D E8400 3.0 GHz, ASUS P5Q Pro, G-Skills 4GB 1066 DDR2, XFX R7 360/HIS 4850 & Antec Sonata III Case (includes PSU)

Upgrades udate: I purchased an ADATA 256GB SATA III m.2 and SanDisk SSD PLUS 960GB SSD recently. I'm using the m.2 to house the OS and the SSD is for Steam. There are major improvements in game load times. I also gain more space in the back of the case for cable management, but the m.2 does run hotter than normal because it's on the motherboard between the CPU and GPU. I still think it's a worthy upgrade if you have the funds.

Part Reviews

It's a quad-core. Good price. Quite a jump of an upgrade compared to my C2D.

Not a bad motherboard. I like the size. There's 4 memory slots if I want to upgrade to 16GB later. The only negative is having one SYS_FAN header.

It's 8GB of DDR4. I upgraded from 4GB of DDR2.

I was already using this SSD in the prior build. IMO, this is the most important upgrade. Windows loads so fast!

Video Card

The GPU scored around 9,500-9,900 on FireStrike. I haven't truly tested this build by playing a more GPU intensive game.. I'm still waiting for the Witch 3 CE release.

I love the size, but the quality isn't the best. There isn't much room in the back for cable management. The side window scratches very easily.

Power Supply

I initially thought this PSU was dead. :D It's semi-modular, which I love. My old Antec PSU wasn't modular.

Case Fan

I have 5 of them and they're all running off the PSU so it gets pretty loud. They look good though.. And they're not PWM.

Very clean cable management for a case that isn't easy to cable manage... +1

Nice budget build man. But I'd suggest getting an after market cooler.

Thanks. That will be my next upgrade.

You don't really need one because you won't be overclocking the 6500. But if you do upgrade you probably will just want to get something small cheap and quite.

Yeah, exactly.. I'm happy with the build the way it is for now.

how is the gpu? I want the zotac mini or the sc nvidia gtx 1060 thoughts?

The mini is a great GPU. I'm loving it. It can run Witcher 3 on ultra at 1080p 60fps with hair works turned off. This isn't my video.. But this is exactly the experience I'm getting too. He turns off hair works around the 5:30 minute mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLx6OJ8bVzw
