Created for gaming at 1440p @ 165hz.
Wasn't happy with the aesthetics or size of my 6700k + 1070 build in the NZXT H440. Wanted something smaller and simpler with more horsepower. This is by far the cleanest build I've done to date.
Had two people from reddit.com/r/hardwareswap try to scam me on a processor and graphics card so it took a lot longer than expected, PayPal pulled through though on my refund (PayPal you da real MVP). Some parts were bought from /r/hardwareswap though. The CPU was BNIB, 850 EVO was used, and the K70 was used but bought a while back. GPU came from Amazon Warehouse Deals (definitely worth checking out if you're interested in saving a few bucks and don't mind an open box).
All in all very very happy with the way this build turned out!
Great processor. Not much to say other than I'll probably never want to use anything less.
Awesome budget CPU cooler. Wonderful aesthetics, good price for performance, and it's quiet, basically everything you can ask for in a CPU cooler. Shoutout to Cryorig for sending me replacement mounting screws due to machining imperfections, and with their astonishingly wonderful customer service.
Good run of the mill Z170 board. Lacks m.2 port for SSD's which was a little bit of a bummer. 6 USB ports is a plus though. The ambient red LED's can also be turned off if your build isn't red. Pretty much the only color neutral mATX motherboard, just wish it was about $20 cheaper regular price.
Amazing aesthetics, brushed black aluminum with the white inserts makes for a happy RAM stick. 3200 and 3000 mhz both caused stuttering, 2666 mhz seems to be the sweet spot for this RAM in my current setup but the difference is almost entirely negligible.
Great speed for a 500gb SATA drive. Sub 7 second boot times. Can't go wrong with an 850 EVO.
2tb. 7200RPM. Quiet for mechanical. Reliable. It's an HDD, not much to say.
Got a rather mediocre overclocker. +100 seems to be it's highest stable core overclock. +325 on memory. Running at above 2000 mhz core though, so it's not all bad. Great looking card with a single 8-pin, which in smaller form factor cases comes in handy. Nice quiet card capable of 1440p gaming at high frame rates with no stuttering.
Fractal Design really outdid themselves with this case. The PSU shroud is what their Define series has been missing to make them an absolute must have. Good mATX cases are almost impossible to find, even given the amount of mATX boards. Cable management is a breeze, 280mm front radiator support with an optional basement for custom loops makes this case.
The only thing I would have liked to see is a hole for GPU cables for waterfall configurations but that's my biggest gripe. They really knocked it out of the park.
Quiet, 80+ Gold, super steady power, fully-modular. Never had an issue with an EVGA PSU.
Wireless Network Adapter
Bluetooth is super nice. Didn't realize it had it until I discovered it by accident. Really low profile, black PCB, and speeds are comparable to ethernet cable in my rig. Good pricing too for performance.
After a color calibration this monitor is gorgeous. 1ms response times, G-Sync, 1440p @ 165hz all for under $500 (usually running between $400-$450 too) this monitor is a wise investment. Don't let the TN panel scare you.
