I'm 20, a girl, and this is a build for my mom.
So last month my mom told me she was ready to get a next gen console. She has always played video games, from the N64, PS2, XBOX, and XBOX 360. She loves shooting zombies, mutants...actually she just really likes shooting things haha. Anyway I convinced her to let me build her a gaming pc for the price of a console. I told her it'd be better and she could play with a controller too. (That was a major requirement for her.) Anyway this is what I came up with, and she loves pc gaming now! She is playing Far Cry 3, The Long Dark, Metro 2033 and Last Light, Dying Light, Wolfenstein, and Tomb Raider all on ultra settings at 1080p, 60 fps!! (a little lower fps on dying light)
CPU: I was on a budget so this is where I cheaped out a little. But it still is a solid option for her. She won't be streaming or editing anything so this will be fine! We also used the stock cooler. Its very loud but she has the pc on her dresser in her room and plays on her bed, so it doesn't bother her.
Mobo: Good, cheap, reliable brand. It says it had a usb 3.0 ports on it but I'm not seeing it I know it has some on the IO but I'm talking about a connector on the board..AM I BLIND GUYS OR??
Memory: Got it on sale. Corsair. Matches mobo and 1866mhz. Works for me
Storage: 1tb is probably overkill for her, but why not?!?!
Video Card: Got it on ebay from a seller called "dansummer" I HIGHLY RECOMMEND CHECKING HIM OUT! the 280x is great bang for the buck especially at the price I got it.
Case: I bought this on a whim and I am very impressed. It's microATX but has a bottom mounted psu and great cable management options!
PSU: hand-me-down from me. She paid me $25 for it. Works great.
OS: I already had a code don't say I pirated because I didn't :)
Wifi Card: I've used this thing before, it works well and is super cheap. I can also play online games no problem on it.
I'm really happy with this build. It is a solid performer for the price and my mom is loving it too! I made a video of it on my youtube channel if you'd like to see more about it and some benchmarks! Thanks for reading guys :)
