Description

Custom build for a friend's business! This little beast drives 12 independent screens via 3xHDMI outs on each of the 4 Video cards, and also one DVI monitor (Primary display). In the future we'll use 6-Out DP Cards.

The H115i CPU Cooler is mounted as a front intake but I connected the bottom rad fan power to Chassis4 on the motherboard so I could control it manually via the BIOS to increase air flow past the video cards. The H115i software controls the upper rad fan with it's normal connector.

Problems solved:

  1. (CASE) Case was almost too small! - The bottom metal shielding which covers the power supply and hides some of the cables had to be removed for an extra 1/2inch clearance for the 4th GPU - a larger case would have solved it, but I didn't want to re-build with a larger one ;)

  2. (CASE) Not enough expansion slots - The case has 7, but 8+ would have been better.

  3. (4th GPU) I had to snip away some of the mounting bracket on the 4th GPU to make it fit due to lack of expansion slots.

  4. (GPU FANS) All GPU fans had to be removed in order for them to fit into the motherboard. I kept one fan connected and rigged up a little mount for it using one of the vertical expansion slots on the case. GPU usage will be extremely low so overheating will not be an issue.

Overall, this was a really fun build, and it's pretty cool to see all of the screens hooked up, sorry the picture is a little blurry! :D

why though

I wrote some custom software for his Gym. Each screen needs to have independent content that is synced with a timer.... that's the gist of it! haha. :)

Neat. Why 4 1050s when you could have gotten something like GT 730s for a lot less?

I was just searching newegg for 3x HDMI outs, and that's what I found :)

I doubt those monitors are more than 1080p and I know a GT 710 has three display outs

Cool build! Haven't seen the need to drive 12 monitors at once before.

I kinda think one 1080 or 1080 ti could do it too, and a couple less monitors at higher resolutions using screen splitting of some sort, but then again, I don't really understand the application that requires 12 seperate monitors either.

Seems like overkill from a 1980's movie.

He needed 12 independent screens (running different content) with HDMI, so this worked pretty well. Next time we'll use Display-Port, I've seen some 6-out cards, so I won't need to cram 4 GPU's in there, lol.

He needed 12 independent screens (different content on each screen), running some custom software I wrote.

The best part of building a PC, is building how you want and what you want it for, stop hating, because nobody cares if your triggered or not!!!

Trying to keep costs to a minimum. This isn't for gaming or SLI. Just needed enough HDMI outs to give me 12.

Yes but 1 rx 580 8gb is better than a 1060 then 2 rx 580 are worth as good as a 1080ti

I needed Triple HDMI per card, because we already bought the 50ft HDMI cables. Next time we'll do it with DP :)
