This is the latest rendition of my main gaming PC and it's pretty sweet.

My girlfriend just recently surprised me with the RTX 2080 FE for my birthday. Planning on throwing a water block on the GPU and CPU in the coming months. For now, the performance is pretty crazy. Can't wait till I can lower temps some more.

When I installed the new card I upped my CPU to 3.95 GHz, it was previously at 3.9 and I can't seem to keep it stable at 4.0 unfortunately! Max voltage is 1.356V.

I mainly play Overwatch, Fortnite, Witcher 3, PUBG and a smattering of Steam games. I'm using a Dell S2417DG G-Sync monitor and 1440p and now I can finally take advantage of the high refresh rate on most games.

More pics coming soon, just wanted to get this posted.

Damn, she knows a lot about you. Is she a PC gamer as well?

AhodShralpy submitter 12 Builds 3 points 6 months ago

Yes she is! We met up on our first date to ride mountain bikes, and then I saw her Fallout tattoo and was like. "no way... she games?!". Good stuff.

Wow... You got lucky. A biker and a gamer!

Your girlfriend spoiled you this year. Keep that one around. Nice build. :)

Very clean and rgb!!

Nice build! It would looks better if you positioned the braided tubes from the cooler to the back of the case.

sweet build!

Hi have you had any issues with reaching 3000mhz with your selected ram and motherboard?

AhodShralpy submitter 12 Builds 1 point 6 months ago

On and off I have yes. Sometimes it'll work for a month or so and then crash while gaming, like on Overwatch or PUBG. I had to lower it to 2866 or whatever and it seems stable now.

How does the 1600 do with the 2080? Im looking to get one or a 1080ti. Also I cant get my ram to seam to work at high speeds. (its 3000mhz)

AhodShralpy submitter 12 Builds 1 point 6 months ago

So far so good with this combo. CPU seems to be able to deliver the frames the GPU is asking for. In the future I'll optimize everything and probably end up with an unlocked Intel CPU, but so far there isn't a real need to!

Did you have to update the B350-F with the Vengeance RAM or was it just plug and play?

AhodShralpy submitter 12 Builds 1 point 4 months ago

For me it was plug and play when I bought the board Sept. 2017. I went on to update the BIOS anyway just to get the most stable cpu/memory support, but it ran at 3000 MHz when I got the board and that was early Ryzen days.

Awesome, thanks! This is the last thing I need for my build and just wanted to make sure it was running fine on the B350.

i have the same system, i'd like to compare my benchmark results with you! Unigine Heaven Benchmark score is 3298 with a little overclock to GPU. min. 150+ FPS at ortnite and 90+ FPS on GTA V.

what are your results?

AhodShralpy submitter 12 Builds 1 point 4 months ago

What kind of settings did you use on Heaven? I got like 4123 at 1440p default settings when I just did it. Let me know what you used and I'll run it at the same.

ephelogy 1 Build 1 point 4 months ago

1080p extreme, tesselation default.

No OC on both cpu and gpu, result is 3147.

Something's wrong. I know. Drivers updated, everything is done about software however, still same results. RAM modules on the way. 8gb to 16gb.

Dude isn't that RTX card would get bottlenecked by your CPU?

AhodShralpy submitter 12 Builds 2 points 6 months ago

I don't think so man, 6 cores at 3.95 GHz. I'm using a 1440p high refresh monitor as well. It can get to 99% utilization on the GPU in benchmarks.

NvidiaBudgetBuilder 1 point 6 months ago

Wow really? Should I pair my 2080 with a Ryzen 5 2600X or Ryzen 7 2700?

AhodShralpy submitter 12 Builds 1 point 6 months ago

Up to you and your budget really! They'll both work with the GPU. The 2600X can probably hit a little higher on the core frequency, whereas the 2700 has more cores and is a tad slower. The 2600X is "better" for serving up high frame rates, but they're so close that it's really about budget I think.
