Description

This was my very first build. I spent two weeks researching what I want and need and I think I am there. There might be some aesthetic upgrades in the future, but I am pretty pleased for now.

Was a pain in the neck getting this thing going... the original DIMM was the wrong size (ASUS online said it would work, the actual MB manual didn't have it approved). The new DIMM arrived and I could only get it to work by installing one stick at a time and then going to the BIOS and then resetting... finally getting to all 32 GB installed.

I had multiple Q-Code 99 issues which I resolved by uninstalling everything off the MB and then reinstalling piece by piece to get to the BIOS. The biggest pain was the GPU. I ended up installing Windows 10 by USB without the GPU installed. I then went online and downloaded every driver for anything I could find. Somehow then, I was able to post with the GPU installed and all is well now.

Special thanks to my fiance for putting up with my endless research, constant youtube watching, and the CRAZY mess of boxes that were in our apartment for a week.

First and lower 3dMark score before overclock.
The other screen shots of benchmarks are after I overclocked the CPU to 4.5GHz and used OC Mode in Asus GPU Tweak II.

Improve the cable management and this PC would give me optical orgasms. So good it hurts.

Nice looking build! Build issues suck man, but glad they all worked out.

Surprised by the Time spy score, figured it would be higher.

How's the ultra wide screen treating you?

jasonaxt submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

Love the ultra wide! I was surprised by the score as well, but I'm not OC'd so maybe that will be the difference... I will update once I do that

Nice, but frankly, i don't think you have the desk space to put your PC on top, but it's no big deal.

jasonaxt submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

I hear you, but I bought a case with a window for a reason - know what I mean? Plus I don't really write at my desk and the dining room table is 10 feet away (apartment life ha).

solofrog 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

Yeah i know the feel I modded my case, and added a window like a month ago, but because i refurnished i had to tuck my pc away in a corner. Trying to find a way to show it off again, but i don't think i can. I understand why you have your case positioned the way it is, so you can see the inside, but the cables aren't intrusive... Maybe line the window up with the monitor and push it in so the cables are behind the display? Idk
