Description

Hey everyone so this was my first build. I just turned 18 and I'm headed to college in the fall and I wanted to build a rig to enjoy for the summer. I had an Alienware Aurora R4:

Motherboard: Alienware 07JNH0 (A02)

BIOS version: A07

OS: Windows 10 Home

Processor: Intel Core i7 3820 Quad Core @ 3.60Ghz got it up to 4.2

Memory: 32GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR3 RAM @ 1600 Mhz Gskill

Graphics: 2x Nvidia 680 in SLI

When I bought it four years ago I wasn't ready to build a PC yet but as the years went by I learned and got more comfortable. I added the second nvidia 680 first and then I added the new ram. I use the rig mainly for Flight sim x but I occasionally play ashes of the singularity, elite dangerous, blacklight retribution, and besiege however the main purpose of this machine is FSX. I run 3 monitors in surround giving me 5040X1060 at 60hz. Alot of times my frame rate was 20-25 at cruise but on the ground with high res scenery and fully loaded addons I got down to 2-5 which was a real pain on takeoff. I was originally going to buy a 980ti for this rig but I choose the 1080 because I figured the future proofing would help my rig last for the extra $100 the 1080 would cost me. I've had the rig finished for about a month now and I am so happy with it. Fully loaded on the ground with high res textures I get around 20 frames and in the air at cruise it skyrockets. Yes I'm running at low resolution for the 1080 but buying 3 4k monitors is a pain and then I would probably have to buy another 1080 because based on history running something at max(the 1080 at max supported resolution) is not always a good thing. I have gotten my CPU up to 4.4 stably and the 1080 I have got it over 2000 but its not the most stable without crancking the fan so I've left it at about 1800 it seems pretty happy there. My cpu temps idle at about 35-40 Celsius and are at about 60-65 celcius at full load. There were a few challenges with installing win 10 on the M2 SSD and getting it to be the main boot drive but nothing a couple BIOS flashes and driver installs couldn't fix. Long story short I installed windows about 4 times before everything worked properly but haven't had any problems with it since. The NZXT IU 101 was for all the USB port on the outside of the case. I love the NZXT Phantom 820 yes its huge but it has awesome airflow and plenty of space for expansion. I replaced the stock fans on the H100i with the SP120s which helps alot and I use the stock fans as case fans. My only complaint with the case is that it shipped to me with a broken fan controller. I contacted NZXT and they sent me a new one I just haven't mustered up the courage to tear apart my new build to install the new fan controller. I have a total of 5 case fans plus the two on the radiator. The case came with 3 200mm and a 120mm The Asus X 99 deluxe has everything you could possibly think of except for enough USB 2.0 Headers. I know that was long winded if there's anything I missed please comment below. I am open to comments, concerns, criticism, tips, etc. Thanks and I'd appreciate the +1

How is the ram working out?

I'm building a x99 system and I wanted to get the same Ripjaw V's you got, the 3200mhz ones.

I've been told Ripjaw V's wont work well x99 and to get Trident Z's or Ripjaw 4s. Whats your experience?

Do you have all 32gb running at 3200mhz ok? thanks in advance
