Description

My Work / Gaming / Wife Facebook station.

Im more than happy with the way the build went, apart from the fact the GTX 670 i received was DOA which im now waiting for on an RMA. So in the meantime i have an old HD 4850 which can be seen in a few pictures as a basic GPU which does what i need for work. And yes its a very tired old card with a massive bend in it .. =P.

I appreciate that 16gb of Ram is a little ott but i got it for free so who can complain. I have had a slight problem with the H100i as the fans were very loud, which Corsair sent me a new pair for free which totally fixed the problem and i wouldn't hesitate in recommending now.

Future plans are to buy an SSD get better fans and a few later on treats.

Oh the EVGA PSU is one of the best iv ever used, the level of quality for the price is hard to match.

really like the mobo...actually wanted to get that myself but didnt have the funds at the time :/...velociraptor is a good choice in hdd...ultra fast rpm..but ssd's still blows it out of the water. EVGA makes great psu's and video cards.... awesome choice on that.. the cpu is perfect and great full load temps with it being oc'd and all..im curious what stress test and temp programs did you use?

The HDD is from a bin of parts iv got, the same bin i pulled that nasty HD 4850 from. I sold my last build to finance this new one but my Wife decided she wanted a new Tablet pc so i had to make a sacrifice sadly and an SSD was that. Il get one soon enough.

With regards to the Temps, i use Core Temps to monitor which is a great bit of software. I use Prime 95 as a stress tester and the highest temp whit that running for a few hours is around 65 - 70 degrees but under normal full loads its 48 degrees because Prime 95 goes way beyond what load your PC would ever really encounter.

thanks for your response, ive found that speedfan is great for monitoring temps and other specs are listed as far as cpu, gpu,RAM info. i've heard of prime 95 never downloaded it though..will be giving that a try to see.

Nice Cable magmt. Wasn't crazy about the green case when I first saw it, but it looks good with your build.

Good Component choices, but the 16gb Ram may be a tad overkill.

Nice Build.

If i had bought the ram id have gone with 8 gigs but it was free so i cant complain. In retrospect i wish i had bought a different case but it does match well with the bits i bought.

How'd you get it free? Locally?

My friend bought 32 gigs and had it installed, he then realised how over kill it was for playing counter strike source so donated half to me for my new build, which was nice of him.

That was nice. I thought you might have gotten a sweet deal with the mobo or something.

I would of went with a cheaper motherboard, a regular 7200 rpm HDD and got a 680 with the money saved. You got my upvote though, nice build!

Im using this HDD because the money i had for an SSD was used to buy my wife an Android Tablet =(.

I agree i could have saved money here and there, but thats the pit falls of pc building.

Usually I would say 16 gb is overkill, but free is fine.
