Description

Welp here is my budget for fun build. Tried to see how low I could go while also building a decent system. Wont be used for heavy gaming obviously. Maybe a G3258 upgrade in the future(according to Asus I can overclock it with this board using the new BIOS). I cleaned up the wiring but this was the first picture after I started the system. I'll post another picture with the cleaned up wiring in a little while.

Well done.

I'd probably have cut out 4GB of that RAM and used the extra money to get a decent H97 motherboard though, since RAM is easy to upgrade and motherboards are comparatively difficult to replace.

I actually was going to go the Z97 route along with the new anniversary processor until Amazon told me that they wouldnt be able to ship it until August. Had to postpone that part of the plan but its certainly still in the mix.

Looks pretty good for a budget build. Maybe some benchmarks?

How does it do on games?

ImDaBaron submitter 3 Builds 2 points 39 months ago

Not sure yet. I bought a few games during the Steam sale so I'll see how it does with those(Ghost Recon,Bioshock and Counter Strike). I imagine it shouldnt have any issues with those on medium settings.

I'm not a fan of the 760K. I'll just go with the G3258 when the time comes to upgrade. Plus the 260x price isnt showing up that's why its $350.

It shows up on mine tho. it says $402. How come your not a fan? it has more cores, higher clock speed. Also, that thing doesn't even have hyper threading.

The single core performance is faster on the 3220.The performance is actually not that impressive for a 4 core processor. That and its an easy upgrade path to an i5.

If your looking to upgrade intel is the right way.

I personally think you should have gone for an R7 250X. It delivers considerably better performance than the R7 250 while costing just a little bit more.

tries to go low but gets 8gbs of ram? not my choice

ImDaBaron submitter 3 Builds 2 points 39 months ago

Eventually when this gets upgraded its going to need the 8GB of Ram. It has a nice base to build off of.
