Description

I use this for BF3 on a 1680x1050 system. Actual cost after $55 mail-in rebates (not including mouse, keyboard, headset, monitor, HDD, and miscellaneous switches I already had): $834.33 HOWEVER, I sold the Borderlands 2 code that came with the GPU for $30, so make the cost $804.33

Everything recently bought is from Newegg except CPU (Microcenter pickup), PSU (NCIX), and SSD (NCIX).

EDIT: SEE updated pic where I fixed heatsink orientation, the upside-down HDD, and routed the ATX 12V cable behind the video card.

i would suggest that you rotate the 212 so you don't draw warm air off the back of the graphics card

yeah, that's a crazy orientation for an Intel processor! Sometimes the AMD's you have to route funky like that but for Intel - no way. Seems like you missed instructions that came with your Hyper212...

The manual wasn't exactly clear about which way the heatsink should orient relative to your case. The manual just showed how the heatsink should be installed relative to the crossbar.

I did fix it though (see new pic).

Yeah I figured that out after seeing your comment and Reddit buildapc comments. I uploaded a new pic with it fixed.

You know if you bought the CPU AND the Mobo at microcenter they take $50 off the combo...

My mobo is $130 after rebate (plus tax) at microcenter. I got my RAM for free with the mobo from Newegg and no tax. So I think I got a better deal.

if your RAM costs $50 or more then yes. The deal at MC is $50 off + the rebate

You're forgetting that microcenter charges tax (6% here). So I'd have to pay $8.40 in tax. Which makes it just $1.60 cheaper than Newegg.

I forgot to mention I bought stuff from Newegg through chase ultimate rewards, so I got an extra 2% back from them. Thus, I get $2.40 in rewards (on top of the 1% for all purchases) from Newegg.

TL;DR $2.40-$1.60=$0.80 saved through Newegg compared to Microcenter!

A few things: Gaming on wi-fi sucks. If possible, get hard wired in.

Expect that SSD to die. Maybe not now, but within a year. If it lasts longer, count your blessings!

Allrdy mentioned, but if possible please change the CPU Heatsink around.

I hope you didn't buy that Green HDD especial. They are slower to other types of hard drives, albeit quieter.

Your cable management is...not very good. Idk what kind of room that case has for management but I would assume either tittle to none or you didn't take the time...

Not possible to get wired in; trying to sell the house we're in currently and I can't be drilling holes to route an ethernet cable to the basement.

I've heard bad things about the older OCZ SSD, but my research showed that those had a different controller and firmware. Agility 3 onward should be fine.

I did change the heatsink around as recommended; see the new pic at the very top.

I bought it years ago when I needed the space quickly so I got it at a brick and mortar store.

How is the cable management in this new pic?

how did that Wireless Network Adapter work out for you?

Nobody ever notices RAM until it goes bad so I'm indifferent.

As for the PSU. The cable lengths were just right for me. The only thing I had a problem with was the ATX 12V CPU cable. I had to route that through a small gap in the GTX 660 Ti to get it to the port without hanging out awkwardly. Here's a more recent pic: pic

I play mainly BF3. Trying to setup recording gameplay at the moment.
