Description

This is the first pc i have built, and I decided to first create this little pc for running a Minecraft server for a few friends. The operating system is Linux Ubuntu 18.04.3, it was confusing at first but I got it in the end. It was pretty fun to build this then setup a minecraft server.

Part Reviews

CPU

Good value and has integrated graphics, stock cooler is kind of loud but not an issue for me

Motherboard

Good Bios in my opinion

Memory

Looks better in real life in my opinion (than in the pictures) Also its good

Storage

I just needed some cheap fast storage, this is good enough

Case

Overall good case, but the pop out things on the side were a little small, so the I had to force it down to put it back on after running some cables in the back. Not too big of an issue in my opinion though. For the price, its good

Power Supply

Nice power supply from corsair, the cables are thick but not a problem for me

Totally beats renting a server for your own use though. Nice cheap build!

How does it do as a server?

Pretty good, my friends all get around 50 ms, and I am able to play minecraft at the same time with 60 fps! It can also do most world edit commands pretty fast.

Wait, you play minecraft on this machine? I remembered setting up minecraft on Ubuntu was a pain in the ***

I think it wouldn't be so hard if you were familiar with Linux, which I wasn't. However, some google searching helped me a lot.

sabrent rockets are so fast, you can load chunks faster than you get there! would recommend getting another memory stick, couldve gone with 2 4gb sticks. most ryzen CPUs/APUs like dual channel https://www.amd.com/en/products/apu/amd-ryzen-3-2200g

even so for a minecraft server you don't need one. (even though its got an igpu) if you look at the system requirements for minecraft server it only list cpu, not gpu

I have never built a pc before this, so I've never tried any others, but I think its pretty good for the price. Maybe there are other cases that are way better that I've never used

Very nice build! me and my mates run a Minecraft server on aternos right now, but we’re are thinking of doing a similar build as our world is getting a bit too much for aternos to handle...

2666 mhz, i tried going to 3200 but it would not work after that, not sure if it was the motherboard and the ram itself
