I built this rig because I wanted a computer to play the latest games on ultra 1080p. Coming from a 15.6" laptop that could only run minecraft properly, this was a huge upgrade into gaming. I will have to agree that I over payed some parts and could have gotten some parts for cheaper and use the money elsewhere, like the gtx 780 but even though I went this way I can play BF4 ultra settings 65+fps, do some Planetside 2 ultra settings 56-57 fps constantly. I don't hesitate to cut some graphics for better performance since I am used to play on low settings. Started to buy the parts late summer, but ran out of money so finally, I got it working.
Cpu- I bought it from Micro center where I live in a combo w/ z87 ud4h and samsung 120gig ssd Cpu cooler- Was planning to get a phanteks phtc14pe so that I could overclock, but then I realized I had to cut something in order to buy the rest of the parts and this was one of it. Still, it is really good. Idle is around 28-29C and while gaming the max is 38-40C. I say it has some room for overclocking. Mobo-Not much to say. Good features for the price, it is definitely worth the money. High quality. Memory-First, I got me a PNY kit but then realized it was 1.65v so I returned it and found this ram for the same price somewhere else. Even though it would'nt be that much of a problem I just wanted to feel safe. Storage- I got the ssd for os and It is really fast. I just cant go back to my old laptop and wait it to boot for 10 minutes. It literally takes 3-5 seconds to get into windows. the 1Tb storage is for everything else. Gpu-Now, this is the part I should have gotten when it was 310$, but Newegg wouldn't accept my credit card. So I decided to get it from a local store. I am happy that I got it. I would have gone with a 770 but I checked the memory usage and BF4 for sure uses up to 2gb already. Case- Got this back in the summer. This is the only part I regret buying. It looks nice, It has 2 200mm fans in the front and top, keeps the computer cool. But I over payed for it. It also doesnt have a front usb 3.0 header that plugs into the motherboard, but instead it has a regular usb3.0 cable that you have to round through the back and plug it to the back of motherboard. I didnt even bother since the mobo has 6 usb3.0 ports in the back. Psu- Found this psu on sale at Micro center. If it wasn't the price I got it for, I wouldn't buy it. I would buy an XFX or Seasonic psu, but for the price I couldn't skip it. OS-Its the latest, It is not that bad actually. I don't see a reason to hate it. Download the classic shell and same as windows 7. I heard some games utilize it better. Monitor- I wanted a 1080p monitor w/ at least 23" display. It has a matte finish and it displays really good. BF4 looks amazing. I am not sure but I think it has just one dead pixel. It is colorless, I barely can see it. I don't think its worth to return, since I payed extra 20$ to get 2 years warranty.
Overall, the build is more than I expected. Runs quiet like a whisper even on load, I might be lucky I haven't had a defect or something, yet (hope not)
