So, this is my first attempt at a build. There have been some revelations on what i did wrong. I would really love to have people here rip me apart for where I could have made things better. "Value" is not an issue, so please don't comment on how it is more than needed for its intended use. However, Value is an issue if I could have done this kind of power for a better cost or better power for the same cost.

Initial Notes:

For starters, I only used a 256GB SSD. That will soon be rectified by use of RAID on multiple SSDs.

As you can see, I did not include kb, mouse or speaker info. I had some stuff around so...

I have no need for this machine. I basically use it for business and maybe at some point I will get off my but and learn to do video editing. Clearly this is a bit of overkill.

I have the sound card in, but don't really think i need batter than what I get through the motherboard, so I have not even loaded the drivers of plugged in power.

Network card seems like a waste as well. There is one on the motherboard and I really only work wirelessly.

This was a fun little task that demystified my understanding of how this type of system operates.

you didn't need to buy a sound card the onboard audio is really good but Good Build anyway

With that case and lack of many HDDs, you should remove the middle tray and place your HDD in the bottom tray. It allow for better airflow and make the case look cleaner. But nice job!

I am about to build another of the same. The only changes I am making are to the monitor and more importantly I will only plan to put a 2TB HD in this and no SSD and plan to avoid putting in the network adapter.

Anyone have any suggestions of changes that would make sense. This is a machine which might reasonably be expect to be used for video editing and possibly some gaming.

what is the network adapter used for? did your mobo not have it onboard? clean up your wires if your going to spend the time and money take some pride in your work, you definitely have the good stuff in there.

Not really interested in bothering with sending back a $28 part, or for that matter this unused sound card (I expect to build a second machine and put that to use there).

I am sort of proud of this. I was more concerned about making sure it could work than how cleanly assembled it was. That said, i have cleaned up the wiring, just not pictured.

Seriously, if you want to blow money donate to charity, or run give way for that 780. Poor thing runs at <1% usage 24/7 D*: Basically same thing with well, everything.

Heartbroken such a system goes to waste. </3

No offense taken, I knew that going in. I could certainly have "bough" a machine which would likely have been cheaper and just the power I needed. That wasn't the point. I figured I would have some fun building something. I had talk with a friend about our each building gaming machines. As i noted in my initial comments, I wasn't that worried about "value" as it applied to intended use.

BTW: The SSD is a new thing to me and it is kind of nice. Not sure it is worth the premium, but....
