Description

My friend wanted to make the great switch from console gaming into the PC realm without breaking the bank. He mainly uses it for his youtube channel and playing minecraft at the moment but has recently bought Battlefield 3 and downloaded his free Splinter Cell Blacklist that came with the 660. This was my first complete build and it wouldn't have been possible without the help from Radicult (http://pcpartpicker.com/b/CRU). The pictures were taken before the Hyper 212 EVO arrived so i installed the stock cooler onto the CPU just so i could make sure it posted. The case was by far the cheapest thing i have ever seen and would not recommend it again. The stock cooler on the cpu brought temps around the 40's idle so with the 212 installed it bumped it down significantly! Overall this was a great 650 dollar budget build for a console to pc switch.

Thermaltake Commander pretty bad though, but just upgrade it in the future. Good build!

I'm sure this will be a pleasant jump from console gaming, this is great for a budget build. Nice work :)

I would have personally picked the FX-6300 over any of the Phenoms. Other then that it does have some potential of upgrading to Steamroller/SSD at some point.

A 6300 would have thrown it out of budget.

Were talking $10. With some tweaking it could fit the budget.

Yea i probably could have changed to a micro atx motherboard and gone with an FX series processor but since the socket is AM3+ my friend can upgrade at anytime to any of the fx series.

Nice build, you might have been better off with a 7870 for around the same price as the 660. The 7870 performs a little better, and it comes with bioshock infinite, tomb raider, and far cry 3 blood dragon to help kick start his pc gaming library. Otherwise everything else seems solid.

When i purchased the 660 it came with splinter cell blacklist and i checked the 7870 and it didnt come with any games at all. I guess Newegg must have glitched or something.

Yeah earlier this year all the AMD cards were coming with 3 pretty damn good games. Now its not even worth buying AMD until the new ones are released in October.
