Description

***A Few Updates:

As a poster requested I got the PC off the carpet and have it sitting on a nice board as a riser. Finally got around to do a little overclocking. Figured I'd post the results.

RAM running at 3200mhz

Processor running at 4.7ghz on adapative mode max voltage of 1.33

all is running smooth and fast and am very happy and am still in LOVE with the 4k tv as a monitor.

It was time for a new computer as my Macbook Air was getting a little long in the tooth. After a lot of deliberation I decided to build the exact opposite of what I current had. I am in an Apple house. The only PCs we have are a Windows Home Server and my daughters laptop. Macbooks, iPads, iPhones, Apple Watch, etc fill the home.

So I am switching from a 13" Macbook Air to a PC with a 48" 4k TV on my desk! The video card is comically almost as big as my Air as you can see in one of the pics. So now i have a big screen, a big computer, heck a big mouse pad, a colorful keyboard and mouse...The Opposite.

This is my second build, i built a low budget gaming PC 10 years or so ago. I had a lot of learning to do since I've been out of the PC parts market for so many years. Researched for a couple months while I got my finances in order, and here we are.

I was a little nervous about using a TV, but I honestly couldn't be happier. Again took a bit of research to find out which 4k tv's would work, but now i have so much screen real estate and don't have to live with monitor bezels and such.

I haven't really run it though it's paces yet. I have Fallout 4 on it but have only played it a little and I am about to install the Witcher 3. I hope to soon see how it can handle 4k gaming. Want to overclock it a bit and run some speed tests as well.

Uses for this machine will be a bit of everything. Web browsing, gaming, photo and video editing, a bit of music recording, etc.

I had one issue. If you notice in the pics I have a box for one cooler and then installed another. The Corsair H105 died on day two. PC just shut down and on next boot up the processor started quickly overheating as I watched the temps in the BIOS. It was the start of the weekend and i was crushed because I was looking forward to messing with it all weekend. Luckily Amazon Now's 2 hour delivery service had the H100i GTX. So I am now running on that cooler.

The only regrets I've had are ones I knew I would have. I miss many things about OSX. I miss Reminds and iMessage, OSX's version of iTunes, Garageband and iMovie. We still are connected as a family through Apple which our calendars, reminders, etc. Again, I knew this would happen though and I hope to find some good replacements for the photo, video, and music apps.

Overall I have had a blast! I used this site a lot for ideas and I am loving my new and opposite PC. Already wish I had funds and a reason to build another.

Really nice build man, I'll be curious to see how 4k gaming works out for you and what kinds of overclocks you can get.

Don't kill your eyes mate, but I bet things look good on that giant.

The way the complete setup looks, you are sitting really close to that 48" display. is it even possible to look at the whole display at once when you're sitting that close?

Stellar setup, you can never go wrong with a 48" 4K curved display! You could have easily tricked me and made me believe you were running a Mac OS on that giant screen because of the resemblance to the stock OSX wallpaper options.

Hey. I'm thinking about getting the new 1080 zotac extreme amp or 980ti one, not sure yet. But I saw some compatibility issues as stated here:

"The NZXT H440 (Matte Black) ATX Mid Tower Case supports video cards up to 406mm long, but video cards over 294mm may block drive bays. Since the Zotac GeForce GTX 1080 8GB AMP! Extreme Video Card is 325mm long, some drive bays may not be usable."

So, if I have only one HDD, will I find a place for it in this H440 case? :D

Sorry for the late reply. If you still need to know, yes even with a large card you can use the upper cage in the front of the case for hard drives. i have two sata drives up there.
