Description

Purchased all parts from Canada Computers because I didn't want to deal with shipping parts from different vendors.

I wanted a Black and White build on a budget, so I got what I could and built it with my friend (who did most of the building tbh).

CPU: Chose the i5 since it was the standard and runs best from what I've seen from my research CPU Cooler: Friend sold it to me on a discount since upgraded to a custom water cooling loop. MOBO: Black and white design, looks nice. Unfortunately the CPU cooler blocks most of it. Memory: Got a single 8gb stick of 1866 mhz white ram to match colours. Got 1 stick so i can upgrade to more in the future. Storage: Standard 1 TB HDD. I will purchase an SSD sometime in the near future GPU: With all the controversy regarding the 4gb Vram, I still opted for the GTX 970 since I will be gaming at 1080p on a single monitor for the foreseeable future. Case: I went with the s340 in black because it was looks incredible and matches my glossy white desk. PSU: 500W seemed sufficient for me

This was a great experience and I'm really happy with how it turned out!

Thanks for reading!

Love the build! +1 I have to ask what keyboard hat is?

Thanks! Keyboard is a cheap temporary one but it's pretty decent: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oB0-sHf45vY

How is that monitor? I plan on buying one and I want to know if they're worth it.

The monitor is great! I love the thin bezels and matte screen. It's exactly what I was looking for. You won't be disappointed

I don't think you listed the right cpu cooler on your list. Those are 140mm fans, not 120. Also the dual radiator is massively bigger. Actually surprised you managed to fit it in the 340.

you're right! This is the one I have, in white: http://www.phanteks.com/ph-tc14pe.html

good catch! I'm not sure how I can edit my post

Yeah, the cooler just barely fit. I like how it looks nice and snug up against the glass (but not touching the glass)

how is this cooler compares to the Phanteks PH-TC14PE?

which one do you recommend?

I have the PH-TC14PE, not the one listed in my build. I have to say this cooler is amazing. After a week with this computer I have been impressed with the quietness and cool temps of my CPU. I highly recommend it!

Really? I was interested in purchasing the 14, (and the s340) but everything online seems to indicate that there isn't enough clearance in the case for it. Any issues with it fitting?

Great looking build, btw. : )

Thanks! Only issue I had was positioning it horizontal, so instead I put the fans pointing vertically.

Any problems fitting the 970? I've read in some places that the SATA ports on the mobo stop larger cards fitting properly? This is the only thing putting me off

The GPU fit well, the only problem I had was having the Phenteks cooler in the horizontal configuration and trying to fit the GPU into the PCIe x16 slot. After changing the cooler to a vertical configuration, it ended up fitting. Had no problems whatsoever with the sata ports.

kinda old BUT 2 question does the CPU coller cover RAM slot(s)? and will the cooler interfere with a Gigabyte 970 G1 Windforce?
