Description

So this is the 2nd revision to my second build. Last month, I was able to build my second PC just under 1500 including an ultrawide monitor. Now after a couple of weeks into it, I was noticing the ultrawide I decided to go with was giving me issue. To begin, it was stuttering all over the place and 100hz was not cutting it for me. Coming from 1440 144hz monitor I couldn't stand the lower hz.

Anyway I ended up returning my monoprice zero G UWQHD 100hz and bought a Dell Gsync 1440p 144hz. Since then, everything has been better. The only thing I have added since is the new RTX 2080 XC I was able to find on a local listing and a 500GB SSD.

For the moment, I think I have finally come to a place where I am more than happy with what I have. I might sell my Dell for an IPS HDR 1440p 144hz Gsync. Until then, I am solid.

omg that has to be one of the worst ''upgrades'' i have ever seen, going from a 1080ti to a 2080. some people are hopeless with money.

hahah I know. I was more than just fine with the 1080 Ti but for 150 more I decided to pull the trigger. Returned my 500 dollar Ultrawide and bought a 1440p 1440hz monitor. Got 150 dollars back and used that for the upgrade.

I see guys putting 150 USD on RGB alone. Stupid in my opinion but aesthetics.

Not to be that guy, but you accidentally said 1440hz

haha damn thanks. Appreciate it

well in that case you did well, atleast you will be able to try the RTX features when they arrive, but i understand what you are saying about RGB, i made the mistake of putting part of my budget into too much RGB early on instead of maybe moving up from a 1070 to 1080 or 1080ti, but as i was playing at 1080p i didnt see it necessary, anyways thanks for taking the time to explain, i was maybe a little rude in my original comment.

oh no worries man. I try to see comments like yours from an objective perspective. I know this upgrade doesn't make sense especially when there is 10% performance gain makes little sense. and when I said people dropping mad cash on RGB and rocking old cpus that's the truth of it. I mean we all work hard for our money and we choose what to do with it.

very insightful, well said, i am going to take what you said and apply it to myself, and try to just let people do as they see fit with their money

trust me I have a lot of that to do myself. its all a learning experience. This is my third build and have learned a lot over the 2 years Ive been pc building.

How’s Battlefield V!!??

2160i submitter 3 Builds 1 point 5 months ago

Thanks man. BF5 is amazing I held my judgement until the final build and I am glad what they changed. I was getting terrible performance, but didnt realize I had DX12 enabled so I disabled it. Smooth as butter.

Even playing games from 75Hz back to locked 60Hz, messes with the liquidity and flow of how I have become accustomed with 75Hz.

Nice, simple setup.

2160i submitter 3 Builds 1 point 5 months ago

Yeah man. Once you go higher than 60hz, you cant go back.

I know I hate it. It's like I'm self-conscious about lag now lol.

Nice build. I've had that same monitor (Dell 2716DG) for a year now and love it. Yeah, she is TN but I've had IPS before and the Dell TN comes pretty close, IMO. How do you like the G613?

2160i submitter 3 Builds 1 point 5 months ago

Oh man it is possibly the best wireless mechanical keyboard out there. very responsive my only wish if it was smaller, but I got used to it.

Hi,

Have you run cpu / gpu temp tests? With this setup, what kind of idle / stress temps are you getting out of the setup?

2160i submitter 3 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

Yes. Idle my cpu hovers around 30c and my gpu at 35c. Under full load this is where I need to make adjustments to the fan curve because my GPU with 5 hour use gets really hot at 80c.

My cpu always stays cool, hovering max at 50c

Brovechkin8 1 point 5 months ago

How do you like the monitor? I’m considering the same one.

2160i submitter 3 Builds 1 point 5 months ago

its great man. this is literally the first gsync monitor I got pre black Friday and it is amazing. I've always used IPS, but this TN panel is not bad at all.
