Description

This was the result of two birthdays and a Christmas. My significant other started out with a Dell Inspiron with a i5-4460 with no dedicated GPU. As someone running a high end PC with an ultrawide monitor, this was of course unacceptable.

Some of these parts were gotten at a great sale (case, PSU, CPU), while others were gotten on ebay (GPU and Motherboard).

We build this together and it went really well. Only slipped up when installing the GPU, they didn't realize that you had to click open the pci-e latch, and pressed down and popped the latch off. Luckily it didn't break and I was able to put it back on.

This pc can easily play 2019 games at 1080p @60 on Medium-High settings. Apex Legends and Borderlands 3 (FL4K main because cute pets) were a focus for them and see nice frame-rates.

They did the custom paint job, emulating dutch artist Piet Mondrian.

Awesome! And though I can't stand Mondrian, I weirdly love the look as case art!

Kind of surprised I haven't seen this customization more often, now that I see it here. No other results for "Mondrian" in Completed Builds, anyway. The hardware is decent but you must agree the paint & teamwork make the final product more meaningful.

Yep, they only have a 24" 1080p monitor so they didn't need that much performance, but building it together and customizing it to make it theirs was really more important.
