Description

Build is in progress and not finished. The PC is running but I'm adding more parts to complete the black/red theme.

Mods: The R5 blackout was out of stock, so I went with the R5 titan and painted the white parts (PCI-e covers, hdd and sdd mounts). Going to paint the USB, HD-audio and the front mount I/O cables black with plasti dip, and removing some stickers from the PSU.

Will replace the 2 front fans that was included with 2 new noctua industrial fans, and eventually buy EVGA G2 black/red sleeved kit. 2 noctuas in the front installed.

Not sure if I will use white or red led. Found them for a good price on ebay so I bought both. Don't like how the red led reflects on red parts. Will try both when I get them. Have tried the white led and i think it was to bright, will install the red ones some day.

Some screens of benchmarking and temps is now up. Let me know if you want me to try something else. fadik555

Ouuuff... A wild Define R5, you can hear your own blood streams in your ears with Fractal Design cases. So quiet, the silence is almost deafening...

Looks good man...

Except if you use NZXT fans :)

Yes it's a beast. The only bad thing I can think of is that the airflow decreases a lot when front cover is closed. Can't get a positive pressure with 2 included fans on full rpm vs the rear fan on 40%. Can't lower it below 40%(800rpm) with msi bios and I haven't figured out speed fan yet. But I think 2 noctua industrials on the front will do it.

I guess all silent cases have the same 'issue'.

Nice build!!! Had not seen someone use the new noctua chromax accessories.

+1

Not sure if I will use white or red led.

White ones should look good..

Thanks!! Yes they look good. I have 8 more to use for the front side of the two new noctua fans, and will paint 8 brown ones with black plastic dip. Pictures coming up.

Yup some lighting is all I need. Might use the red ones for the desk.

Id almost recommend spending the extra to get the NZXT Hue(Hue hue hue) +

Thank you for the recommendation but as the keyboard I won't use any other colors than red or white. And I'm going to connect the led to the built in fan controller so that I can tone it down if needed.

Great case choice. It's a beauty. All around a solid build +1

Comment if you want to know temps and benchmarking results.

Yes plz.

Nice. If you're looking for a backplate for that sexy 970 I can recommend ColdZero.

I will definitely buy a backplate but I want to wait 6-10 months incase there's an issue with the gpu. Thanks for the tip I will check it out...

holy **** those stickers look so sick. Where did you get them? And also nice cable management!

Thank you so mutch. The cables are fine but I'm getting sleeved black/red ones later on.

Stickers? Maybe you mean the rubber vibration pads in pic #6? These are from noctua and are called NA-SAVP1 chromax.red. And you can find them in many different colors.

What temps are you getting with that cooler? I'm thinking about going with the same cooler for my future build with the same CPU

Idle is a steady 25C(room 20C). I'm having a hard time going over 55C, tried 3 different stress tests, but I havent figured out overclocking yet. Note that I replaced the included fan with 2 industrals. They are not even spinning at 50% on load. It only goes up to 55C for a few seconds, and stays mostly at 46C. I've tried Prime95, Intel extreme tuning utility and cpu-z.

Yea, i was also planning on switching out the fan with a industrial fan. But that is great that you are getting solid temps. I have the Fractal Define S, i'm planning on switching out all the fans for the industrials when i get mine built. What rpms do you have the 140 rear fan set at?

  • 2 points

My msi mb don't allow the fan to go below 40% (800rpm). Tried speed fan but I get weird reading like 16k rpm. Didn't have time to troubleshoot so I uninstalled and went with 40% and it will automatically increase with temp.

I use the both included white fractal fans as intake on the front and they struggle to keep a positive pressure. I have 2 industrials ordered, they should keep up because they give more pressure. Pressure is needed for the r5 intake.

Are you getting the 140 industrials for the front? I think good pressure is needed for the R4 and S as well. I'm thinking about going with 3 120 industrials in the front and 1 140 in the rear. Although i could put 3 140s in the front

In my finished setup there will be 1 140 in the rear and 2 140 in the front. All industrials.

In your 'case' I would recommend 1 in the rear and 3 140 in the front. If it's to mutch overpressure u can have one of them below 40% in idle temp. And when temp goes up it will start up when it hits 40%. But the industrials should be able to go minimum 25% 500rpm but my mb won't allow it.

In load the rear fan will speed up and the cpu fan will help it+ the gpu will suck out more air. So you need a lot of intake pressure.

Why the industrial Noctua fans? Your GPU is pretty efficient. Wouldn't the stock fans be sufficient?

To match the black/red theme. 1 fan for the cpu would be enough but I'm all about symmetry. This is my first build, the extra cost is totally worth it for me.

when you buy the noctua fans, does it come with the different corner colors? or you spray painted it?

Noctua chroma accessories you can buy them in different colors. I spray painted some of them black but the red ones are bought.
