Description

I was originally going for the i5-4460, that's why I have an H97 motherboard but then there was no stock (I asked for other processors but then the 4440 was the only 4th gen i5 they have left in stock and I had no budget for an i7.)

Sorry for the lack of pictures, didn't manage to take some pictures when I was building the PC because my phone's battery died.

EDIT: I also forgot to mention that I was going for a GTX 970 since i'm an Nvidia fanboy but there was no 970 in stock and other Nvidia GPU's the retailer was selling are the old ones (600 series). So I just went with an R9 290X Lightning since they recommended me so.

EDIT 2: My R90X died last week so I had to RMA it and replaced it with a GTX 970.

Part Reviews

CPU

Good CPU. It may not be the best i5 but it does the job.

Motherboard

One of the best H97 motherboards out there. I love ASUS motherboards, they totally have the best motherboard designs out there.

Memory

Good RAM. I made a mismatch on this one. I was originally going for the black Kingston HyperX RAM but there was no stock on the date of purchase.

Storage

The best SSD out there. What makes Samsung SSDs unique is the Samsung Magician Software, I find it really useful.

Storage

I don't need to review this. You probably know what does this do anyways.

Video Card

One of the top GPUs in the market. Can max out most of the graphically intense games.

Case

I like the 2 LED fans in the front. That's all. xD

Power Supply

A decent power supply. I bought this PSU because it was a semi-modular PSU and I like to have a clean cable management. But if I had more money I would go for a Corsair RM 750. I'm not saying Cooler Master PSUs are bad but if you wanna overclock, a high end PSU is better.

Monitor

Great monitor. One of the best value monitors by ASUS.

Cool Beans.

You should've just ordered a GTX 970. The 290X sucks up power like a vacuum.

It only wants over double that of the 970. (;

Nvidia fanboy detected, your 3.5 gb vram gtx 970 is the one that sucks, company lying to customers just to sell more and more. that really sucks

Nice choice of parts, although I think the CPU/GPU are a little mismatched. Nevertheless, +1 from me!

I can see where you are coming from, but he didn't really need that powerful of a CPU for gaming, which is what I am assuming this is for. If this were more of a productivity build, it would be more of an issue.

His locked i5 is very close to an overclocked 4690k when it comes to gaming. Great bang for your buck.

MaskedMonster21 1 Build 1 point 50 months ago

Oh really? OK then that makes more sense haha.

RazerZ 2 Builds 1 point 50 months ago

Yep. Since Sandy Bridge Intel really hasn't had any major performance gains from overclocking their unlocked i5s.

there wont be any bottlenecks so why the mismatch?
