Description

I just finished upgrading my Hadron from an AMD A8-6500 on a Gigabyte F2A88X motherboard. I decided to go Intel this time. So far it has impressed me. Although the processor speed is lower, the system just runs so much better now.

I decided to build the upgrade around the i5-4690k processor run the OS from an SSD drive. Wow, it boots before my monitors are ready. The only issue I ran into was that I couldn't use my GSkill Ripjaws PC1600 memory due to the height limit under the SlimHero HSF. I had to put in an older Team Elite Plus PC1333 memory.

I have to make some mods to clean up the cables, and mount the SSD, but it's up and running.

Nice build. I know your ram did not fit but why didnt you go with 1600 for it. There are many brands making 1600 mHz low profile or without cooling ram kits

The 1333 RAM was taken from an older system. I'm going to be looking to buy some low profile memory and will swap it in the need future.

What kind of CPU temps are you seeing with that cooler? And, can you give us some idea of how loud it is?

Actually just about every time I've checked the sensors in the last 24 hours, I've gotten highs of 35C to lows of 28C. Compared to the previous A8-6500 with the Noctua NH-L9a I can't tell if the system is on. The sensor package in Linux didn't work with the A88x on the old mobo so I have no clue what the old temps were, but so far this system is practically silent with the same case, fans and drives (though I added the SSD to this build).

Yes I was posting off an iPad. I seem to not be the only one here that suffers from incorrect autocorrects.
