Description

The main reason built this Desktop is because I write code... and because I love video games. Now, before you say anything I have to clarify something; I work with distributed ecosystems and Deep Learning algorithms and so most of the projects that I work with can be demanding AF.

Now, as for the build itself, I have been working mainly with laptops for the past 4 years, because I was an undergraduate student and I was away from home most of the time, so I had to carry my work with me every time I visited my parents. That being said, performance wise, they don't even come close, it's ridiculous how much time it takes to boot up and build everything from scratch, my desktop is light-years faster than my laptop.

Right now, every monitor I have in my possession is 60Hz (both 1080p and 4K) so I have to buy a new monitor to really see the difference. But I feel like it will outperform my current monitor.

Tell me a story about the early morning argument...

He said that my build was overkill and he owns a RTX 2070 and an Intel i7 8700K. That's it. We argued for 5mins and then we played WoW together and after that I left the discord call and went to bed.

I have a friend who yelled at me for the exact same thing. I have an RTX 2070 and i9 9900k and he kept on telling me i was “wastning my money” and “being a jerk idiot” only difference is that he instead has been ignoring me since and flaming me in any public space for being a “rich jerk”. :D

(He has an r3 3300g soon upgrading to r5 3600x and RX 5700XT)

You should avoid him then. If you are passionate about PC's and wanted to upgrade your system, a good friend would understand. Maybe it's best to leave negative aspects of life out like that. But best of Luck!!!

Your CPU/GPU is an a amazing combo for gaming and at the end of the day, I'm sure it's worth the money. As for your friend and his attitude, I'm certain he'll grow out of it.

Also, if you don't mind me asking, do you have a high-refresh monitor and if so, would you recommend it over one with higher resolution ?

Not the one you replied to, but with a 3900x and 2080 Ti you could go for the middleground of both high rez and high refresh with a 1440p 144hz. Your setup is overkill for 1080p, and 4k 144hz is very hard to achieve in all games even with the best components. I would recommend a 1440p 144hz IPS monitor, something like the LG 27GL83A-B

Oh, thanks for the recommendation, I'll check it out asap.

I got in a short fight with my friend too. I made a perfect pc build in partpicker for him to follow, but on he said he was getting a build with an rtx 2080 and i7 9700k for christmas. I have a ryzen 5 2600 and a 1660 ti so we joke argued for like 5 min in discord. Lucky son of a gun...Nice build tho.

Your friend's choices sound like a good opportunity for you to create a rivalry between the two of you.... or a great opportunity to test your thievery skills.

Will post soon. Pcpartpicker is a great place for pc build inspirations and it is actually the first place I looked for my pc case and for its aesthetics.

60hz monitor on that amazing pc. like i know it shouldn't matter if you're used to it but after trying 144hz i couldn't go back to 60. obviously gotta stick with the 1080p or 4k on the 144hz but try it out!! it seems like such a waste to just be using a 60hz monitor on such a beautiful system

You mean the light? I had issues with ASUS' software and I just uninstalled it, installed an older version of the same software and installed armoury instead and ...it just worked. Then I just uninstalled the older one. So, I guess I was lucky (?)
