Description

Personal File server, Accessible from anywhere. Personal media server running both Emby and Plex for different libraries. Only accessible in the home network. Running Drivepool with duplication + scanner. Occasionally used for gaming, no problems for my needs. Used for some basic video editing, no problems there either. OS installed on 1 Nvme. All other SSD's are used as Cache for the pool. The case is not the easiest to build the system in, but it looks good and it was one of just a few available cases able to house 14HDD + 5SSD. For the 6HDD in the bottom compartment you better make sure to have a case fan with enough static pressure, otherwise those disks tend to run hot. All Western digital drives of 8 and 10 TB are actually shucked WD MyBook drives with kapton tape on the 3.3V contacts. For the CPU I tried a lot of thermal compound solutions (just for testing) and the carbonaut performs excellently, not the best, but better than most. Since it's so easy to handle I decided to use it for most of my builds. The CPU runs idle at 35 Celsius after 6 months of being on, the graphics at 33 Celsius and the hard disks at a steady 30 celsius, with those in the bottom compartment nearing 40 degrees Celsius. RGB Is handled by MSI Mystic Light. I use the Razer peripherals 99% percent of the time. The M570 is used with the laptop which I often use to manage the server from the sofa while watching tv ;)

Could use a little more storage space for those games.

So a NAS that doubles as a gaming PC?

Indeed, but tbh just basic gaming. Most of the gaming happens on console. Just some older games and mmorpg’s

102TB? Check my math. Cool build (pun intended) and impressive temps.

This is similar to what I want to build as a plex server, just minus about 80TB's lol

But yeah, the 2600 + 570 sounds like a good combo! Do you have a few people connected to your server? How does it perform with a few people watching stuff at the same time?
