Description

My lady friend was in serious need of an upgrade....weather she knew it or not.... So I took the liberty of building her this little cube and trying to pass it off as her Christmas present, we'll see how that goes...

It didn't need anything too crazy. Most of the time and a good bit of the cost went into looking pretty(thought this might help sell it as a present) instead of performance. Other than being a facebook power user, the PC isn't going to get much of a workout. So this machine will more than do the job for many many moons to come.

Obviously it's never going to be OC'd and the lack of dedicated GPU make it pretty low power and heat. There's only one 120mm fan in the whole setup, including PSU. Things are staying plenty cool and super quiet.

I painted the originally arctic white case pearl white with some sparkle pink accent, including the rad. Mayhems Gemini Pink Aurora looks awesome and goes pretty well with the sparkly pink paint. I did buy some normal pink fluid as well in case the Aurora gives me any trouble in the future.

The custom sleeved cables came out great. I have a little more cable management to do and I want to sleeve a few more things (USB 3.0, pump/fan, front panel) but waiting on some parts. Looks pretty decent for now though...

She might need some extra RAM for all those Facebook tabs. Really cool looking and interesting build. +1

I'll probably throw some in at some point....maybe if she decides to up her pinterest game!

Jhobbster 1 Build 8 points 39 months ago

WHY YOU WATERCOOL SUCH LOW POWER NON OC BUILD?!?!?!?!

ajpinton 11 Builds 10 points 39 months ago

Why not? People put things on their cars all the time that don't make sense.

RobotEars submitter 3 Builds 6 points 39 months ago

Did you not read the description??

Jhobbster 1 Build -6 points 39 months ago

Yea I did but its still pretty unpractical.

RobotEars submitter 3 Builds 7 points 39 months ago

Nevermind dude...cant help ya!

classmcgeek 2 points 33 months ago

I prefer looks ove performance, and think watercooling is a wonderful think to have in any build.

What that was my opinion i have the right to share it.

MenacingErmine 1 point 39 months ago

Why even buy water-cooling equipment though? Just have some tubes with pink water running around the thing.

RobotEars submitter 3 Builds 18 points 39 months ago

You and Jhobbster should get together and build the most practical and least fun PC ever...Im sure it would be magnificent!! haha

ctmuck 2 Builds 2 points 32 months ago

haha. This whole conversation cracked me up

Jhobbster 1 Build 0 points 39 months ago

Lol yes it would

floridaboz 4 Builds 3 points 39 months ago

That is a very girlfriend looking build, I have seen very few with those colors, but it looks nice.

paskowitz 1 Build 3 points 39 months ago

If she likes it, you've got yourself a keeper!

Bor3alis 2 points 39 months ago

I'm a dude and I'd totally be down with this build. (Plus gpu of course) looks great! +1

DriftyWood 2 points 39 months ago

Very funny! I like the build you have made, perfect for a girlfriend. (She's going to love that water cooling)

KeeweeComp 1 point 39 months ago

That is a very nice build, It's a cute looking little system. The cable management looks great! I'm impressed for a Mini ITX build.

RobotEars submitter 3 Builds 2 points 39 months ago

Thanks. I have some more straightening up and sleeving to do but dual zones in the case make managment pretty easy.

Unuvailiable 2 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

Did you sleeve the 24 pin cable yourself? it looks nice. Also, is she going to have to maintain the loop? That is what is keeping me from liquid cooling - maintenance (although there are tons of people who say it isn't hard)

RobotEars submitter 3 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

Maintenance isn't really that bad. And if you're the kind of person that's liquid cooling your PC, you're probably also the kind of person who likes doing that stuff anyway...

Unuvailiable 2 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

But the question is, is she going to appreciate maintaining the loop?

RobotEars submitter 3 Builds 3 points 39 months ago

Oh that would be my job for sure!

johngerges582 1 point 39 months ago

A Thermaltake water block. Intriguing

I like what you did with the rad. +1.

georules 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

That pink juice is hilariously awesome. Fun build.

RobotEars submitter 3 Builds 2 points 39 months ago

The pink juice is definitely the best part!

ThugginMcMuffin 3 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

IT'S ADORABLE :D!

ThugginMcMuffin 3 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

leave a comment here on if she likes it at Christmas or not :P

RobotEars submitter 3 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

Will do

jnanof 32 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

love it ( and I am female :) )

RobotEars submitter 3 Builds 2 points 39 months ago

Good to know :)

MaxMDiamond 1 point 39 months ago

Love the build! Just one question though, what's your resevoir / pump that you've got there? Thanks!

RobotEars submitter 3 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

It's a thermaltake PR15

MaxMDiamond 1 point 39 months ago

Thanks for the reply! When I looked at this on that wonderous thing called the internet, it didn't look like it did in your build. Really helps op.

SpecificAlduin 2 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

I love this build. Very clean and well executed. I don't often see pink computers.

glich610 2 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

That radiator is super glitery! its awesome! haha. Question, will this case work for non-liquid cooling build? I really like it but I prefer the looks of the the fan.

Im not sure if I'm understanding the details correctly but good luck to your lady friend dude!

RobinClarijs 1 point 39 months ago

Love the built you made. The pink tubing + pump looks beautiful (even though I wonder why you paid 350 dollars since it doesn't seem as there are so many tubes in your built, did you save out some for a next built?), the M.2 SSD is a smart choice for the confined area you're working in. Great painting job, maybe some pink led's in future? Don't know if it would look nice but girls love those type of things. I don't see your fan in your built is it behind the radiator?

RobotEars submitter 3 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

Have you priced out fittings lately....those alone!! Yes, fan is in between the rad and front of the case.

RobinClarijs 1 point 39 months ago

I never knew fittings were that expensive, damn. Still I hope your gf has a nice christmas and if she doesn't appreciate THAT epic gift she's not worthy of your love. The devotion, money and creativity you put into this should make her feel astonished about you being her boyfriend.

RobotEars submitter 3 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

Haha, I agree! And yeah, fittings can really ramp the cost up quick, especially if you had a big loop!

GrumpyEtha 1 point 39 months ago

Haven't seen such an overkill build for a while, but +1 for the looks ;)

Smiley119 3 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

So much pink O_o . +1 man great build

willbrud 1 point 39 months ago

It looks like a microwave, but it that's sweet that you made this for your gf. Props too you!

ajpinton 11 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

Really nice build, really clean too. The only thing I would be worried about is with it being a custom loop it will need to be opened and cleaned every now and again, will she be able to do this when you are not around?

breakerion 2 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

I guess you weren't kidding when you said you used my same board and cpu for a build, men that mobo makes everything looks like a toy :p cheers for the happy girlfriend after that present. I guess your build came pricier than mine due to the m.2, chassis and PSU.

lins 1 point 39 months ago

What case did you use?

Gooberdad 10 Builds 1 point 38 months ago

It's pretty to look at. Very sparkly too.

RyanKemnetz 1 point 38 months ago

This liquid cooling is SICK. If I ever upgrade, will try to copy you ;)

CheesecakePC 1 point 35 months ago

Why is the case sideways?

jtrier1 1 point 35 months ago

Nice build...might want to add more storage on it later on though. 128 gigs doesn't last very long.

johnny8557 2 Builds 1 point 34 months ago

love your present to your girl, man,im piecing together the same thing kinnda, but, after looking at your build,i might just run a simple water loop thru it just for the same reason as you,to make her"awweee"over it,not bc it really needs that kinnda cooling,i understand you madness unlike many who say, well that's stupid,or impractical,or whatever,ya know.awesome stuff man!!did you give it to her,and how she like it?i made a parts list for mine as well, but,if you don't mind I might snatch a few of your ideas, man.cheers and 1+ from me bud:)

insectdoughnut7 2 Builds 1 point 34 months ago

weather she knew it or not

It sure is sunny today with a chance of rain. hahaha Nice build though

insectdoughnut7 2 Builds 1 point 34 months ago

Where is the psu?

RobotEars submitter 3 Builds 1 point 33 months ago

Its on the other side of the motherboard tray.

KVNG 1 point 34 months ago

I have this exact same CPU and motherboard. I am having a lot of trouble getting the display to turn on without a gpu (plugging monitor it into the motherboard only).

TheOminousBulge 1 point 33 months ago

Wait... Do my eyes deceive or is there no power supply in the case??

RobotEars submitter 3 Builds 1 point 33 months ago

Your eyes deceive you....:)

ctmuck 2 Builds 1 point 32 months ago

I'm sorry you get no respect for this build ha. That's a kick *** present and IMO it emulates much of what a lot of girls want. 10% practicality 90% Pretty and a lot of money being spent on them.

I also found the "liquid Cooling Things... and Custom Sleeving Stuff... hilarious. Thanks for showing your build man. You did a great job with the cable management and made a beautiful PC.

Xar-Das 1 Build 1 point 30 months ago

+1 For a Super Clean build. That Cable management is boss.

a labor of love...clearly.

Great job man.

GeoDashZorra 1 Build 1 point 29 months ago

One 120mm fan cooling the entire thing... impressive.

But the price tag on the other hand...

josermireles 2 Builds 1 point 29 months ago

Looks nice but does the radiator have no fan? Are temperatures still good?

GosuSang 1 point 28 months ago

I woulda got 16 gig ram, and a 6500k and a oc mobo tbh

hcain 1 point 27 months ago

Would you say the case is on the flimsy side? I want to make sure it can handle the accidental tap of a foot or chair when Nancy copies my pinterest wedding theme or when Jill post another pic of her ugly baby on facebook.

pwelch234 0 points 39 months ago

why why why why why i mean it looks good but $1000 on a pc that will be used for 30 minutes each day come on

RobotEars submitter 3 Builds 12 points 39 months ago

30 minutes?? You underestimate the magnitude of Facebooking...!
