This build is an upgrade of my old system. I have had this pc for over a year now, but I wanted to make it look nice so I got the :S340 Elite, Hue+, Kraken x52, and the CableMod extensions. I use this system for entertainment (gaming & videos) and school. The reason I named it Chroma is because of the rainbow theme.

The next upgrades for this system will most likely be an ssd & another big hard drive. Also, maybe a better cpu so I can keep up with future titles.

Part Reviews

For the price it's a solid choice. After a year of use it's still going strong in modern video games & basic tasks.

CPU Cooler

It gets a bit loud, so I would recommend adjusting the curves in the CAM program. That is my only complaint. Other than that it is a very nice looking aio liquid cooler & it keeps my cpu from getting too hot. On a sidenote if you are interested in getting one of these kraken series coolers you will need sata power, cpu fan header, and usb 2.0 header for it. On the power cable it has 4 fan headers for the case fans which was well appreciated.

Solid choice for the Z97 chipset. Has 3 headers for case fans, SLI & Crossfire support, 6 sata headers. Looks nice with the black pcb & blue heatsinks. My only complaint is that the cpu fan headers were in the middle of the mobo instead of the top. This was an inconvenience to me as the cpu fan cable is very visible.

Looks nice and is pretty fast.

Really good bang for buck. I needed to get a cheap ssd to put a few games on that were having issues with loading. After installing them on this SSD they run perfect now.

Video Card

Allows me to play modern games at acceptable settings & frame rates. Gets to around 140-150 degrees fahrenheit under load from my experiences.

Nice looking case & great cable management. I like all the thumbscrews, and the front panel usb 2.0 & 3.0 ports are great. One of the more better cases if you are planning on doing vr because of the front panel hdmi port that passes through the case and into your video card. Also, the magnetic puck is nice for hanging headsets. My only complaints is that it only has 2 3.5 inch drive mounts and the airflow paths aren't very good.

Power Supply

Great choice for budget gaming pcs.

Case Fan

Loud, but looks nice.

Case Accessory

Setting up all the cables for the strips can be confusing, but the end product is awesome. My system wouldn't be the same without these lights.

Handy little piece of hardware to have in your system. Comes in clutch with all the NZXT products that require usb 2.0 headers.

Nice build! Mine is very similar. Having the same cpu, one thing you might want to think about before buying another haswell or older chip is the future proofing. If you are going to have this pc for the next 2-3 years if you buy a new haswell chip you might be getting a little outdated because of the skylake chips that have come out. You would also need a new mobo and ram so if your cpu is still going strong you might want to get the most out of it you can. So that's just a thought when considering a cpu upgrade, whether your pc is still running well on the haswell architecture or if you need an upgrade.

Turn your rear and top fans around. should have them exhausting air, not intaking.

FriskyTurtlez submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

I have front two fans exhausting air from the radiator then rear & top intaking.

mlach 4 Builds 2 points 9 months ago

In that case, put some filters on those 2 intaking fans. You're gonna have so much dust in there without them.

Will do
