Description

Instrumentation data downloader/data analyzer for my dive computers. Media PC (connected to TV in main living room and used for movie watching, etc.) Casual gaming (RTS, FPS, turn based strategy, Final Fantasy MMO, third person action such as saints row and other casual titles)

H100i works well and provides excellent near real time information. however, the h100i intel bracket did not apply adequate pressure to my 4790K processor and was allowing temperatures to reach 88ºC within approximately 1.5 seconds. After addition of four slices of business card, the idle temps dropped form 35ºC to 28ºC and load under intel processor test dropped form 70ºC to 41ºC and temps from prime 95 on maximum heat went from 91ºC to 71ºC.

I plan to delid the 4790K and replace the thermal conductance material with something better in the future.

Works very well for casual games like TF2, Dawn of war (I & II), FFXIV, Saint's Row 3&4, and portal 1&2 with no visual disturbances other than screen tearing (when the game does not support vsync and i am too lazy to implement it manually)

3 HDDs are in RAID5 for minor speed increase and fault tolerance of storage.

The main thing it offers is looks then he hides that with the hideous ram cooler

In all actuality, you would have to be overclocking the ram substantially in order to be required to cool them.

my disappointment is that the ram does not come with the cables to connect it to a corsair link.

I had said that because when I built my rig back in august of 2014 I picked up 16gb of Cor Dom Plat 1866 for 189.99 (You could paint the bar inserts if you want to change the colour)

I like the blu-ray, dvd burner combo, very useful. I like the raid5, great idea. Why the $350 OCZ PCIe ssd though? Also, you should have gotten windows 8.1, it's proven better, such as it uses less resources allowing games and benchmarks to perform better overall. One last thing, the RAM is sort of overkill. Although for data analyzing I suppose it's necessary. I had the same problem with the H100i, I was so mad I didn't bother and just got the H110, for only a few dollars more at newegg.

PCIe drive was purchased almost four years ago. it is included in the build because i still use it and it is amazing for gaming performance. you have to pull 8 threads of data from it at once to get full performance, but it is ludicrously powerful. I did not pay that much when i bought it.

Windows 8? seriously? most of windows 8's performance is in loading, not execution. additionally, pcpartpicker seems to only allow one operating system to be defined in their list. i do not know how to list more. KDE really likes the build, windows is a piece of fluster

That's what I meant. That PCIe SSD is amazing though I'm sure!
