Description

Had a PC in high school but gave it up for a laptop when I went to college. Now that I've graduated, I decided to build my own gaming PC. My original PC was pre-built so this was my first complete build (tinkered with parts before).

I got some pretty good deals from employee discounts, black Friday/cyber Monday, partner deals, and student discounts (still qualify for them :P). The only thing I could have gotten a better deal with was the RAM. It was on sale after cyber Monday for $30 less than what I paid and NewEgg refused to adjust the price (I never have a good experience buying from them...).

Overall, I'm really happy with it. I haven't installed many games yet but so far it was been playing Far Cry 4 and CO:GO beautifully. Also, the cable management looks waayyyy better than what the pictures make it out to be :P

I will eventually upgrade to a mechanical keyboard and a better monitor but for now I wanted to stay under budget.

Feel free to leave any comments/feedback :D

PS - Named it after one of my favorite video game characters, Mordin Solus (Mass Effect)

Sweet build! Great part selections...but that monitor's a bit underwhelming for such an awesome card. Easy +1, despite the not-so-great cable management (but at least you tried :p).

i took the pictures before i tried to close the case. when i couldn't close the back panel I redid the cables lol

I wanted to stay under 1400 (my real budget was 1200 :P) and this monitor was cheap and had good reviews. Once I have some more money saved the first thing I'm getting is a better monitor and switching this to a secondary one.

Where did you find the i7-4790k so cheap? :o Here in Belgium it's at least 330euro.

I have a bit of a dumb question. Did you run into ANY issues when using that GPU with that Mobo. I'm going for the same combo, just wanted to make sure there are no compatibility problems regarding brand and such and such.

Regardless, nice build!
