Description

So I decided to a custom loop using EK parts on my first build. This is my first ever loop.I have the parts to do a PETG loop, but I decided to use the flex tubes. When I go to switch out the fluid in 6 months or so, I will swap it out. Until then, I will practice doing some bends on incorrect tubing I bought.

On air, the top GPU would max out at 84C and the bottom one would get to 78C under load. After I changed the build to liquid cool all my parts, the top GPU gets to 37C and the bottom stays at 35. Not bad if I do say so myself.

The CPU temp seems a little high with the loop. but it could be because 1) I am using a 7700K and we all know they are like frying pans and 2) the liquid gets to my GPUs first which means the heat has not had a chance to cool through a rad before getting to the CPU. I will take this into account when I do the PETG loop.

The reservoir in the back side of the case. Not really much room to put it in front. I am going to work on the cable management today and will upload a pic of it later. I just wish Corsair would make a clear view side for the case.

Overall, I am very pleased with this system. Thanks for taking the time to look at my build!

So I decided to go in and do the cable management in the back area. While organizing my cables, I noticed the longest run (1st pic for reference) was kinked in the back. Got it fixed and by doing so, it made the build look cleaner and more tidy (IMO). I am glad I did noticed it and fixed it. I would have cried.

For some reason, my build says 45Ghz as my CPU speed. I typed in 5Ghz. Not sure how that happened, but it makes me laugh that some people really think I got it that high haha!

Today after work I plan on taking photos with my good camera. I just used my phone to upload the pictures, but I do not think it does my PC justice. I may even have to pull out the strobes :)

So my EK GPU blocks came with a plastic cover that says what card is in the system. I painted it silver to try and match my system. I only have one on for now because of the way my loop is routed on the serial block for my GPUs. I will try to upload a pic later.

So someone brought up to me that I basically skimped out on the audio for my build. You know what? He was right! I ordered myself a pair of Sennheiser HD 700s, a ModMic 5, a Schiit Bifrost Multibit DAC, and a Schiit Valhalla 2 amplifier. I really do miss having good audio equipment.

Wow! My build got featured today! There are so many great build out there. I am humbled.

So the BX (Military Store on base) has been getting a lot of new peripherals lately. I am surprised that they have been getting nice prebuilt towers tbh. The part I was excited about was the Corsair K70 RGB keyboard and Corsair M65 RGB mouse. Annnnnnnnnd bought!

Part Reviews

Motherboard

When I decided to start my build I picked the Formula IX first before any other part and built around that. I love the factory EK Crosschill vram block. Be cautious about using flex tubes if you plan on doing what I did with my build. I honestly cannot believe it did not kink going from my CPU to the vram.

Memory

Beautiful and performs very well. As far as the RGB feature, you will not find anything better. The colors are bright and very fluid. Knocked a star off only because of the price. If you do not care about the RGB aspect of RAM, you can get some very affordable high performance RAM for much cheaper.

Storage

BLAZING FAST! My PC boots up in 3 seconds. It is insane. If you are able to take advantage of the NVME feature, you will enjoy it. It is very small and looks like a stick of gum. If you want to save yourself a hundred bucks, go with the EVO. The warranty is not as long, but most performs just as well.

Video Card

I do not really need to say much. It's a FE reference card. Most people buy these because they want the newest tech the moment it releases or because you plan on watercooling. I run a couple in SLI with EK blocks and I could not be more happy.

Case

I love this case! Lots of room for GPUs, Fans (I have seven 120mm on rads and one 140mm as exhaust), radiators, and can accommodate an EATX board. I currently have my reservoir w/built in pump in the back of the case.

The only things wrong with the case IMO would be that while the front of the case and PSU exhaust have mesh air filters, the top and bottom do not get one. If you want, put some pantyhose in their places and you should be gtg.

Power Supply

It's a PSU. It powers my stuff with no issues.

Case Fan

These Static Pressure fans do a great job cooling my rads. The Magnetic Levitation (hence ML) feature is amazing. I hear nothing at low speeds. I literally hear nothing but my pump going and even that is really quiet. Having the LEDs come from the center of the fan gives it a more balanced look.

Case Accessory

Be wary. I received the kit and one of the four RGB strips did not work. It ook NZXT a month to get me a replacement. When it works, it works great! The RGB spectrum wave is my favorite.

The only issue I have with it is that you are required to have this in order to use the NZXT AER fans.

Monitor

1440p up to 165hz monitor with G-Sync....That alone is amazing. The monitor is crystal clear due to the IPS panel, but because of this you will see a 4ms response time. The previous TN panel has a 1ms response time, but you also get washed our colors and terrible viewing angles just like any other TN panel.

Speakers

Good sound and fits my needs when I am not using my headphones. It would have been nice to have all the speaker light up white like the subwoofer does.

The only gripe I have are the volume buttons. They can be very finicky.

Other

You need on to connect more than one card. It works great and the switch at the bottom lets you change the color. You can have the EVGA logo in White, Red, Blue, or Green.

Other

Mobos these days are limiting the amount of USB 2.0 headers. My specific board only has one. I needed to connect an NZXT Hue+, but needed another USB 2.0 header. Here is the fix!

Who spends more then $7K on a build and only uploads 4 photos!!!!

Sorry, now that i have got that out of me, I would like to congratulate you on such a gorgeous build. I wish mine were like this!

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 5 points 1 month ago

I wanted to finish up the cable management in the back. I literally just uploaded a pic of it. It's my first time doing it...eff that crap haha. I'll get more pics up when I clean up my mess.

Electroman01 1 Build 4 points 1 month ago

Fair enough. Its a great build and you've already added more photos

Ypres 8 points 1 month ago

WOAH. THANK GOODNESS YOU GOT A 2K MONITOR....

I'm speechless. This is a piece of art.

+1

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 4 points 1 month ago

I wanted a 4k, but the new 144hz (cards can't even get to that refresh rate) HDR monitors were not and are not out yet.

TheRealJerimiahJohnson 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

go 3440x1440. Two or three of them...

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

I wish

IanJvan 1 point 8 days ago

good luck powering that, even those two ti s would have a hard time.

i would dedicate the top radiator to cooling the cpu instead of the motherboard. If you want to have a radiator for your motherboard then use the space at the back to fit a 120mm rad. But other than that noice build

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

When I go to swap it all out for PETG, I was planning on doing that. Thanks for looking out!

PigWithAMustache 2 Builds 1 point 1 month ago

okey dokey

TheRealJerimiahJohnson 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

awesome idea. plus the motherboard really does not need a full size rad and he did mention his temps were a bit high.

I wonder if it's a voltage issue though.

dixonerfais 4 points 1 month ago

Lots of people dye their coolant, but you stuck with a clear look, makes i look cleaner IMO. I love it.

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 5 points 1 month ago

That's what I was going for. It saves me from having to to a flush to clean out all the color gunk that can build up.

arom 3 points 1 month ago

This makes me feel like I want to spend $7000 on a custom loop. Like I'll ever have that money. Nice loop.

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

I got a nice bonus and decided to go ham. Thanks for checking it out!

SirHalpin 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Glad I could help

diddy303 3 points 1 month ago

If you got the money would recommend some Sennheisers cause they sound pretty good and maybe an external mic

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

It depends on what your budget is. I used to have a pair of 650's. They were amazing! As far as a mic? I really don't know? I use a headset that has a mic.

Nice job!!

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

I have a massive Dragon Ball collection! I just threw a few figures out there.

anthony7421 3 Builds 1 point 1 month ago

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

It is what is already installed on the motherboard. Asus is starting to make all the high end boards with water cooling in mind. It is an EK Crosschill.

Dude now this is what I call a OP build !!! This PC is the definition of pure power !

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

It is OP I know. It's what I wanted. It should last me a few years.

Jimbium 3 points 1 month ago

This build will last you more than a few years. 5-6 years at LEAST, I mean 1080ti's in SLI. Great build!

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Thank you!

TheRealJerimiahJohnson 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

SRMartin15 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

Legit build man I love it! I'm working on my custom loop as well. My build page is a little outdated. I believe by late July my loop and build will be finished up. I love working in the 740! Again sweet build man!

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

I can't wait to see it! I really like Corsair Cases. Good luck to you on your loop. Hopefully it is as easy for you as it was for me.

WillieNelson16 2 points 1 month ago

Photo 15 Goku looks UNreal.

Gorgeous

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

The 2D look makes it really stand out.

NovaTastical 2 points 1 month ago

If you paid $7400 for your entire PC, you need to buy a better headphone and mic. Buy a sennheiser 598 SE and a modmic for superior audio for gaming and music AND so that people you talk to online will hear you clearly as well. The build looks really good too but idk if you used any anti-growth stuff in your loop. Just to prevent algae growing in your loop. +1 for an amazing build.

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

I wanted a headset that could use on my PS4 as well. I used to own a pair of Senn HD 650's along with a mod mic and i loved them. Before that i owned a pair of Senn PC360's. I sold them both because they were sitting there collecting dust because i stopped using them on my old prebuilt computer that I never used and i really, really regret selling them. Those were probably my favorite gaming cans. The mic was perfect! If I do get another pair in the future, it will be a pair of HD 800's. I just need to get an damn good amp to run them as well. I used EK's premixed fluid which already has growth inhibitors. Thanks for the advice!

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

So after thinking about this comment all day I realized you were right. I do need to upgrade the sound quality. I just ordered myself a pair of Sennheiser HD 700's, a Schiit Valhalla Amp, and Schiit Bitfrost DAC.

NovaTastical 1 point 1 month ago

Many go with a soundcard if you can. You can turn your headphones 2.0 channel to 7.1 via software. Also glad I helped!

TheRealJerimiahJohnson 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Nice. You don't need a sound card though. Waste of money.

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

Yeah, I just wanted the DAC and Amp. I really do not need more than that.

overclock6950x+ 2 points 1 month ago

WOW I'm blown away by your build it's simply amazing, it must pretty fast to I bet.

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

It is pretty quick. Thanks for stopping to take a look!

Frogg_Tough26 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

Nice rebuild bruh! It looks good! I don't think water cooling is for me though....I'm too nervous bout it LOL! But I will be using the Fractal 360 or a H100 iv2 to cool my 2 MSI Gaming X 1080Ti's. All in all, this is a awesome case and you did great. I'll be starting on mine soon.

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Doing soft tubes is extremely easy! Don't be afraid of it. Just take your time. There is a lot of room for error and there is nothing to worry about. If you have a piece that is too long, you can just snip it off. If you do decide to get into doing a loop, be sure to buy extra tubing for those times you mess up. I am practicing bends on PETG right now. I hope I do not screw this up. It is not for everyone, but if you do decide to go this route, you will be happy with the performance.

Zeorymer300 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

Beautiful clean build man! I'm about to go full force on my water cooling, would you recommend skipping soft tube and go straight to PETG? I see you mention that you will move to that.

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

So I bought the wrong PETG tubing and I am using it to practice bends. It takes some practice. Just take the time to plan out the bends and be sure to buy extra PETG in case you make mistakes. The biggest piece of advice I can give is to also make sure you install a drain. I am trying to figure out the best way to drain my setup now and it is going to be a chore. Good luck!

mrzoltowski 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

BEAUTIFUL! ... I love the Crystal feel to it ... puts my build to shame :(

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

I had RGB fans in it till all my EK stuff came in. It was loud (fans) and LOUD (color). My wife hated it. So when I decided to switch over fans, I went with ones that were quiet and not so bright. I wanted it to be simple.

No build should be shamed. If you put the effort in and you are happy, then enjoy it!

JuiceKingsRevenge 2 points 1 month ago

This is awesome. Where did you get that Vegeta Figure where he's in the ship

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

It is a model you put together. Look up Bandai Figure Rise Saiyan Pod.

person_1234 2 points 1 month ago

Russkie69 2 Builds 2 points 1 month ago

You made it too easy!

Russkie69 2 Builds 1 point 1 month ago

I noticed you have Razer keyboard & mouse in your pictures, but a Corsair keyboard & mouse in your parts list.

Was that just a mistake on your part or is the Corsair keyboard & mouse being shipped currently?

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

I changed it over to corsair. I just haven't updated the pictures.

Russkie69 2 Builds 1 point 1 month ago

Nice looking forward to seeing the updated setup.

Darkraipegasus 2 points 1 month ago

I am pretty sure Corsair made some money through you. but it is one of the builds which hits my sweet spot. Congrats on the feature too

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Thank You! I was surprised by the feature.

Darkraipegasus 2 points 1 month ago

Dude that white leds are perfect in there

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

+1, upvote, points they're synonymous

xTHExRADxREXx 1 point 1 month ago

I know wat it means but y upvote that's not good grammar ynot just use +1 or like or anything else

cFlake 0 points 1 month ago

Your grammar is terrible... You really shouldn't be talking. And the term "up vote"i s grammatically correct while +1 is not.

xTHExRADxREXx 1 point 1 month ago

it was a joke sorry ......

xTHExRADxREXx 2 points 1 month ago

why not use colored liquid like the blood red that would look so cool in this build

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

I might try to see how that looks at a later date. Black, White, and Red? ummm....yeah!

xTHExRADxREXx 1 point 1 month ago

JUST DO IT

BLOOD RED AND WHITE WOULD BE SOOOOOO AWSOME

Mike2k24 2 points 1 month ago

Welp I just shed a tear at the beauty of this build.

GOOD **** MAN

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Thank you!

fouram33 2 points 1 month ago

Bottom fans appear to be exhausting. So 5 exhaust and 3 intake; you're a bit negative pressure here. Plus you're fighting convection... not a good idea. Convection is more powerful than people usually give credit for.

I would rotate the bottom fans to intake. You should definitely see better temps and less dust in the case, as you'll be slightly positive at that point.

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

I cannot believe I didn't think about the positive airflow. You are correct that I have a negative airflow going on. I am going to switch the bottoms to be intakes as soon as I am done replying.

toyotarocks9 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

the fact that the the loop goes through the GPU then the CPU doesn't matter. The temperature is the same throughout the loop

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Thanks for the heads up!

[comment deleted]
Wi1dCard2210 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

I think Jayztwocents did a video on how radiator position in a loop doesn't make a difference in CPU temps (meaning putting a rad between the gpu and cpu wouldn't lower cpu temps) because science and stuff. 7700ks just run hot I guess, tough luck. (I'll link the vid when I find it)

mcgoff360 1 Build 3 points 1 month ago

i was searching through the comments to see if anyone else said this. i saw the same video by jayz and was going to comment that you are really just establishing an equilibrium temperature so it shouldnt matter where in the loop your pieces are.

great looking build though!!

mrzoltowski 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

Congrats on being featured. Class.

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

This build is over 9000.....dollars. Haha, really beautiful man. That SS Goku figurine is also premium appeal. Enjoy the dream!

Anyansayo 2 points 1 month ago

Wow, that is a lot of custom parts! Great build and good overclock. That would be a bit humorous if it was 45 GHz, but also really amazing too.

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Maybe that CPU will come out later.

Sweet baby Jesus

krapphlat 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

we all want this right? I so badly want this... I really liked this case too, but went with a 540 Air instead better ecstatic for me build Project Winter War , but my next build you've definitely convinced me to go with the 740 Air, want to build a Kett themed build (bad guy from Mass Effect) so a military olive on the outside and perhaps something really over bright on the inside like an orange or yellow.

so op success you've inspired! T'is what's pcpartpicker is for, no?

Tandy 2 points 1 month ago

Awesome build man!!! Can you tell me what did you do with leftover geforce gtx led logo from your gpu?

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

The stock GPU cooler is just sitting in the box. If I decide to sell at a later date, I can put it back together.

Tandy 1 point 27 days ago

Are you by any chance willing to sell the green led "GEFORCE GTX" logo? Im planning to make rgb geforce gtx logo out of these so im looking for guys that have gpu waterblocks and dont use led logos.

EvanRedman 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

This is so awesome looking

Pachi 2 Builds 1 point 1 month ago

How in the hell did you fit three rads in an air 740?

Very well done by the way.

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

A promotional pic of this case came out with three rads installed. So I went with it.

Pachi 2 Builds 2 points 1 month ago

I guess that works then!

TheRealJerimiahJohnson 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

4 would be better... plenty of space for a 120 in the rear ;)

I mean, you can't really have too many rads...

Ljedelen 1 point 1 month ago

This is an amazing build since (as far as I know) there is no good water build section on this site what brand are you using for your water cooling

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

I went with EK. I'm really loving their blocks!

Boith 3 Builds 1 point 1 month ago

I love the look of this thing, seriously, it's amazing. The fluid not having any color in it just "fits". Plus those ML fans, which look really nice. Just a quick question though, how is slightly scaling? A lot of people have mentioned SLI scaling with these cards not being great whatsoever. One of the reasons I don't wanna get a second.

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Thank you! I really do like the look of the clear fluid. I ordered the EK Vardar fans, but then I seen these! I just wanted to order fans that would not piss my wife off. As far as the scaling...i would not recommend going SLI with these cards. You are correct, the scaling is not the greatest. If you are not in a hurry, just wait for Volta architecture.

Boith 3 Builds 1 point 1 month ago

Yeah, I already bought a single 1080 Ti. Gonna be set for a while hopefully lol. Maybe scaling will get better as games are actually written to take a red vantage of 2 of these things.

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

That is one of the reasons I bought two even after people kept telling me that SLI is not supported blah, blah, blah. Eventually, they will release some support and that is all that matters to me.

Boith 3 Builds 2 points 1 month ago

Yeah, I placed my bets on SLI a while ago with 2 1070s, hoping multi gpu really would take off. It didn't. Oh well. Maybe I'll grab a second when they're cheap lol.

customgtp 11 Builds 1 point 1 month ago

Absolutely beautiful... Question though... I keep on seeing dual 1080 ti's lately... How necessary is that right now? I have a 1080 and don't wanna get one ti because I feel it's too much

customgtp 11 Builds 2 points 1 month ago

And those speakers are sick... It's like they match your pc

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

The speakers did not match before. Now that they do, I did not even notice! Thanks for pointing that out.

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

Not really necessary. I just wanted it to be a OP. I like SLI not only for performance, but aesthetics as well.

customgtp 11 Builds 2 points 1 month ago

Oh okay... I love sli look too but last time I had it was a few years back and it was 2/780 gtx's. I ran into problems with certain games and sli so I sold them and bought a 980 ti... I have a 1080 and often think of pairing up

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

If you want to go with it, go for It!

customgtp 11 Builds 2 points 1 month ago

Oh and your pc NEEDS to be featured by the way...

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Thanks!

customgtp 11 Builds 2 points 1 month ago

Soooo......LQQks like you got that feature after all huh!!! Congrats!!

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

I was not expecting it, but it sure feels cool! Thanks again!

TheRealJerimiahJohnson 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

maybe not now, but next year.... dual ti's will last you for a long time. I hope. You could always add a 1080 to your set up. That is kind of the point in SLI... to avoid needing an entirely new build to handle games.

Lyrix 1 point 1 month ago

DAMN!

1+! This looks amazing! woooooooow! great upgrade! "I will do custom liquid cooling when I am back stateside." you didnt lie! and you did a great job! looks really good!!!

funkeemunkee11 2 points 1 month ago

WOW! THIS ONE DESERVES THE OVER REACTION BY LYRIX! OMG +1!

Lyrix 1 point 1 month ago

yes! some just do! and i think this is a great build! so let me overreact :D

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Thank you!

Lyrix 2 points 1 month ago

congrats on the feature!!!

oneflygtiguy 4 Builds 1 point 1 month ago

Dang, this is crazy. I really like the new 740. Thought about swapping my 540 air for this one. Is it bigger. This build is way nice.

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

I don't know if it is bigger than the Air 540? This is my first build, so I don't have much to compare it too.

TheRealJerimiahJohnson 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

It's 3" taller...

Nicker950_HD 1 point 1 month ago

Woah dude, why you need that many rads... A single 360 and a 240 would be more than enough.

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

I found a promotional picture from Corsair featuring this case. I wanted it to look like it.

TheRealJerimiahJohnson 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

I don't think too many rads is a problem... more of a solution.

Nicker950_HD 1 point 1 month ago

Hm.. True.

TheRealJerimiahJohnson 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

1080ti's in SLI?

for when you have 4 x 3440x1440 monitors...

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

I will get more monitors at a later date. More than one monitor was not in my budget lol

geoffg67 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Do you plane on having separate loops for the cpu and gpu?

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

When I go to PETG tubing in about a 10 days or so, I plan on having the fluid cooled by one of the rads.

Arichikurukuto 1 point 1 month ago

Nice clean build and it looks great. I've got the same Corsair fans you got except in 140mm. Mine are still noticeable at the lowest setting. But once I crank them up to 100% they are loud as hell. They deff get the job done. I have 3 of them, 2 in the front and one in the rear. Keeps everything nice and cool.

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

They are really loud when cranked. I'm glad this doesn't ever get hot enough to make my fans spin.

Vinnan 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Can I see cable management?

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

You can't see it in the pics? Do you mean in the front or the back?

Vclutch 1 point 1 month ago

Overkill much man, what are you going to do play cod over watch, crysys and snake l at 4K

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

I like Oregon Trail

FcoEnriquePerez 1 point 1 month ago

I'm trying to find your pump, where is it? o.o

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

I got a pump/res combo.

FcoEnriquePerez 1 point 1 month ago

But where? xD

Anyansayo 1 point 1 month ago

Also, what are you planning on running on it? And what kind of FPS ranges are you doing?

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

I am mainly just using my rig for gaming and running Photoshop for photo and video editing.

Cokeman00 1 point 1 month ago

Just out of curiosity, what are your CPU temps?

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

I decided to lower the CPU to 4.8 and my idle temp is 35 degrees. During stress testing at 100% load it goes to 69 degrees.

Skringo 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

A build like that and you're using soft tubing?

Rodrigo1999 1 point 27 days ago

I was wondering how high you were able to pump up the clocks of those FE 1080ti's with a custom water loop, it would be cool to compare it with the KINGPIN edition when it comes out and somebody does the same thing with them haha

Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 27 days ago

I'm going to play with it some more when I get home.

Dracolich 1 point 2 hours ago

I respect your attention to detail. And in this case, i'd say the flex tubing looks absolutely stellar.

SurrexGaming 0 points 1 month ago

I personally would have went with a 6700k especially if you're using for gaming/streaming and editing. Lots of fans though, must be nice to game on.

Ahryi 3 points 1 month ago

Why? There's no reason to go with a previous generation i7 when he has dual 1080 ti's.

TheRealJerimiahJohnson 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

there is no reason to go with a previous gen i7... at all.

Ahryi 2 points 1 month ago

I agree completely. It's just that having two 1080 ti's obviously shows he wants to go the extra mile, and pointing that out hopefully shows how ridiculous it would be to pair the most powerful GPU on the market and a previous gen i7.

[comment deleted]
Sketch25 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

I just went with what was the most current i7 processor. A little overkill? Yes, but after seeing built, I think it is worth it.

SurrexGaming 1 point 1 month ago

it was im going for one as well in my parts list my build should be done soon.

Wi1dCard2210 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

there's literally zero advantage to using a 6700k over a 7700 besides temps, but in a custom loop that can handle the head even that is irrelevant.
